WADE The cab comes to a stop outside the hospital, and I barely hear the driver's voice as I shove cash into his hand, jump out, and rush inside. Nurses and doctors immediately notice me and rush to help. I'm wired, frantic, and running on pure adrenaline as I follow the gurney being pushed to the emergency room. "She is pregnant," I tell them, and they ask me more questions to better understand her condition, medical history, and any urgent concerns, such as her allergies, and blood type. And as I answer the questions as best I can, it becomes clear that we don't really know each other.
