Fia was trembling. She wrapped her hand around the can of juice
offered to her and focused on not fainting.
“You did well.”
She barely heard the words. She wanted to pass out or at least lay down
on the padded table. It was exactly like the exam table in every doctor’s
office. They hadn’t let her lay down during the piercing process but what
was the harm now?
“They look beautiful.”
She didn’t know why she had let George do this to her. Well, that wasn’t
completely true. She knew why, she just couldn’t believe she had let him do
this. But he had said it was necessary so she did it.
“Drink the juice. You don’t want to pass out.”
He helped her lift the can to her lips and she greedily slurped at the
contents. The liquid was cold and sweet. She couldn’t drink enough of it
