"Who is going to war?" Alpha Vincent and Alpha Bowen came up and interrupted us. After talking to them for a while, I politely excused myself and went over to spend some time with my companions.
Laura, Eric, Ray, and Rich who were also my classmates at the academy were standing in a circle around the campfire, making smores for the puppies.
"Alpha," they all said at the same time.
"Please call me Elizabeth."
They all nodded in response. Now that I had become an Alpha, they would be approaching me with respect and caution, which made me frown. I wanted the members of my pack to see me as the former Elizabeth, someone they could also talk to easily, not as a terrible tyrant.
"Would you like something to drink, Elizabeth?" Laura asked, noting the tension in the air.
