“Are you leaving already??" The question stopped Jasmine in her tracks, she had her handbag slinging from her right shoulder, and she had already arranged her office. With a sigh, Jasmine turned to look at him, her eyes said a lot, she wasn't ready to deal with this. Kieran on the other hand was feeling bored and in dire need of some form of entertainment.
"Yes, I read the contract, it's an 8 am to 6 am job, a total of 11 hours, with an hour break in between" She stated, she was already tired of her first day, and all she wanted was for that day to end with her smiling, but it would seem that was a stretch.
"That is correct" Kieran smirked, he had settled the stadium plan for the German Stadium project, it took a while, but they ended up with something everyone was satisfied with. "But it was also stipulated, that overtime can be imposed on workers by the Chief Executive Officer" Kieran's smirk grew into a grin. "In this case…me" Perfect set of white teeth, Jasmine inclined her head as she stared at him, what was he playing at?
"I don't believe that's true," Jasmine said, she wasn't too sure about it… although she knew she had read that contract a quadrillion times before she came for the final interview with Kieran.
"Are you saying what I said is false?" Kieran was enjoying every bit of it; she became confused and it was clear that she was racking her brain to think if what he said was right. "Why don't we make a… wager??"
"You mean a bet??" This was something she didn't expect from him, there was a glint of mischievousness in his eyes and she still hadn't figured out what he was playing at.
"Bet??" Kieran shook his head "That's too crude of a word to say, it's not a bet, I can assure you, it is not a bet, it is not gambling" He was having fun playing with her… too much fun.
"Alright then, what's your…wager?" She asked as she approached his desk and sat opposite him. She set her bag on his desk before crossing her legs and folding her arms, in her mind all she thought was whether or not this was a ploy to insult her and make her feel stupid.
"It's a secret" He smirked, Jasmine's eyes started twitching, she already felt stupid.
"Who the hell gets on a bet without knowing what exactly the bet is?!!" she belted, she was already staying here longer than she anticipated, the time was 6:45 pm and whether he liked it or not, he would have to compensate her for working overtime"
"In this case you" He was smirking again "If you don't want in on the bet, you can opt out" He was having too much fun. "But then again, you can also be cowardly and run away" He was playing on Jasmine's intelligence… and it was working.
"What are the conditions to opt out?" She asked.
"It's very simple, work till 8" She yelled objections, and Kieran's ears were close to bursting "OR…" He practically screamed that part out to get her to stop yelling. "There's another condition do you want to hear it?"
"What is it?" her voice was back to normal, but her patience had run out and she was close to resigning on her first day.
"It's very simple, get out of here without standing up" His grin was purely mischievous "If you're not satisfied with my conditions, you can always opt-out" He knew she wasn't going to, but what's the harm in taunting her a little.
Jasmine didn't want to lose, she hated losing and why lose to a complete asshole of a man, she racked her brain, and there was only one thought that came to her mind. She smiled and reached for her bag pulled out her phone and dialed Logan's number.
"Hey Jaz" His soft voice came through.
"How close are you to The Kyros?" Jasmine asked, "I need your help" She added, that all he said was that he would be there, and he ended the call, Jasmine turned to Kieran, a victorious glint in her eyes. Kieran on the other hand contemplated putting the office on lockdown, but he already had his fun messing with her.
Minutes went by and by 7:03 pm, there was a knock before Kieran could say, 'Enter', the door was opened… Logan Vickers, someone he didn't expect to see. Logan Vickers was famous in the art world, his mother, Zara Vickers, owned the world's biggest art company; but that wasn't the only reason he was famous, he was a kind man, charismatic and a major reason for his popularity was his smile.
"Kieran" His voice was soft, like a caress, if Kieran wasn't a man, he could have sworn Logan was about to flirt with him.
"Vickers" Kieran stood up and approached him, this was a good thing for him, his new secretary had tight affiliations with the heir to the biggest art company, good for business. "I didn't expect to see you here, do you have a design in mind?"
"Unfortunately, I'm not here for you" Logan stated in a monotonous voice and walked past him to Jasmine, he crouched and started a conversation with her, by the looks of it, according to Kieran, it was more than a tight affiliation… and for some odd reason, his jaws clenched, maybe it was because Vickers just ignored him to talk to a woman with no respect for her employers.
"Carry me" The statement startled Kieran the most, without a single word to ask for clarification, Logan squatted and within seconds Jasmine was being piggy-backed, Logan picked her handbag for her. They headed for the exit… "Have a good day, Sir" were the last words she said before they went out of the office, leaving Kieran alone in the office.
Kieran began connecting the dots, the reason even heard about the job vacancy and the reason she didn't even show him one bit of respect was because she was dating him, Logan Vickers, the rich playboy philanthropist… weirdly enough, the fact that she was dating someone irritated him more than he thought it would and worse, it was Logan Vickers. Kieran didn't hate Logan Vickers, he had no reason to, that's why he didn't like Logan, it was simply because he had no reason to hate him.
The second they got to the elevator, Logan let out a cackle and Jasmine jumped down from his back. It took close to 2 minutes before Logan stopped laughing, he was thoroughly amused. Jasmine on the other hand was dying of embarrassment, she quite literally got a piggyback ride from Logan, and he was going to tease her for years and years to come.
"You have a lot explaining to do, Jaz" He had tears in his eyes from laughing too hard, he didn't even have time to take a good look at Kieran, it wasn't the first time they were meeting, but as he earlier said, he wasn't there for him, he was there for Jasmine.
"It wasn't my fault" she began as the elevator doors closed, Logan was still chuckling. "He's so infuriating!!" She proceeded to whine about how her day started, how she met him in the café before the office.
There was nothing she said that made sense to Logan, all she did was ramble on and on about what a terrible person he was and how rude he was. Logan didn't see the problem, if he wanted to fire her, he could have, if he wanted to sue her, he could have, plus, he never really did anything bad, apart from being an ill-treated customer, but of course, he won't tell Jaz that.
"That isn't a good trait" Logan shook his head bitterly. He had been making sounds of disappointment all through the ride, Logan was dropping her off at her apart with his Black and gold embellished Porsche Cayman S; He was also going to drop her off at work tomorrow morning… conclusion, he was sleeping over.
She yelled in agreement and continued ranting; she had called him more names than the human with the longest name in the world. Jasmine was more than pissed, her shoulder-length honey-blonde hair was loose and blowing gently. Her arms were folded and there was an unfamiliar glint in her gray eyes.
"Do you want to eat before going home?" It was a complete 360, as Jasmine brightened up at the sound of food, she had always thought of what it would be like to marry Logan, he was the only man who truly understood her, her late father excluded.
"Do you even need to ask?" She was smiling again, her usual cheery bright smile, she had never refused food, especially food where she wasn't paying. Logan drove to a restaurant and they got pasta, after that, they went to a pastry shop to eat cake a la mode… Logan then got hot dogs, because what is life without a little junk?
They got to Jasmine's apartment around 15 minutes before 11 O'clock, but they were stuffed and that was all that mattered. Soon enough, it was time to sleep, Jasmine slept in her room while Logan took the couch in the living room.
