Chapter 3: A Silent Return to the Organization

865 Words
I whispered, "What is this?" The sound was nearly swallowed by the surrounding silence. I gripped the wrench in my hand tightly, as if it were my only anchor in the darkness. I quietly stepped back, avoiding the faint light from the sewer. Facing unknown danger, I knew I couldn't act recklessly. I hid in the shadows, my gaze locked on the amber-yellow eyes a few meters ahead. I tried to describe those eyes—strange and luminous in the dark, like two radiant stars emitting an eerie glow. The narrow eyelids, uniquely curved like sharp blades, gave the eyes a lethal intensity. The yellow was deep and terrifying, almost consuming the whites of the eyes, and within that yellow, a hint of brown could be seen in the upper part, making the eyes look both mysterious and intimidating, as if they held an inherent power. I attempted to speak, "Who are you?" But that wasn't my real intention; I just wanted to distract the other. I lunged forward, the wrench slicing through the darkness in a deadly arc toward those eyes. But just as my arm swung down, a powerful force clamped onto my wrist, rendering me immobile. I could clearly hear his breathing echoing in the sewer, a rhythm and presence that were unmistakably his. Knowing I couldn't wait passively, I struggled and drew a thin, blade-like sword from my thigh-high stocking, aiming for the arm that restrained me. Without hesitation, I slashed down. I couldn't afford to die, even at the cost of losing an arm. "Shi Yunqian." A familiar voice whispered in my ear, my trembling eyelashes slowly lifted, revealing Matthew's gray-brown suit and yellow eyes. He stood before me, as if he were my last hope. "Was that you just now?" I asked, startled. Before Matthew could answer, I noticed I wasn't alone in the sewer; dozens of men in black suits stood silently on one side, their gazes exuding unquestionable authority. "Don't ask anything, don't say anything, just do as I tell you." Matthew bent slightly, his voice carrying an irresistible command. I nodded, allowing him to lead me toward the sewer exit. The group followed closely, like a well-trained unit. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my fear and unease. Yet, those yellow eyes lingered in my mind, their terror impossible to shake off. We emerged from the sewer to find a dozen black cars parked on the ground, their brands unrecognizable. Matthew led me to one of the cars, pausing midway to gesture with his hand, "Take care of everyone on the list." A man behind us responded, "Yes." Matthew nodded slightly and ushered me into the back seat of the car. "Would you like some red wine?" he asked softly. I exhaled deeply, trying to ease my awkwardness. My revealing outfit, coupled with the Zorro mask I wore, made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I fumbled with my hands before replying, "Sure." Matthew retrieved an unlabeled bottle of red wine from a cooler, extending his muscular arm to offer it to me. I twitched slightly behind the mask, carefully opening the bottle and pouring the wine. Suddenly, he asked, "How much do they pay you to pour drinks for them like this?" My heart skipped a beat, and my hand shook, spilling wine on the pristine table. Matthew looked at me, and I couldn't meet his gaze. He dipped his thumb in the spilled wine and then gently touched my red lips with it, rubbing slowly as he whispered in a low, suggestive voice, "And for this? How much should they pay you?" I shut my eyes tightly, sitting stiffly as tears welled up. "Please, don't," I choked out. He was silent for a moment, then pulled me into his arms, his voice softening, "One last question, how much do they pay you to sleep with them?" I begged through my tears, "Please, Matthew, don't ask anymore." He sighed softly, seeming somewhat disappointed, "I thought, risking everything to keep you alive, you'd lead a normal life. But it seems you can't change." His hand moved slowly toward my thigh. I whimpered, biting my lip to stifle my sobs. He removed my Zorro mask, and I kept my eyes closed, overwhelmed by a sense of humiliation and shame. I cried out loud, my vision blurred by tears. "Why do you degrade yourself like this?" he murmured, no longer teasing me. He held me tightly, stroking my hair, "Shi Yunqian, from now on, you'll work by my side." I nodded, letting him carry me to the bed in the car. He gently laid me down and placed a set of gray-brown clothes, identical to his, beside me. "The first thing we need to do is dress you properly." I nodded obediently, starting to remove my revealing leather outfit. His hand brushed over my bare skin, his gaze deep and tender. "Welcome back to the organization, Shi Yunqian." In that moment, I felt as though I had found a new home and support. Though the path ahead was fraught with unknowns and danger, as long as he was by my side, I had the courage to face anything.
