(Sabrina's POV)
The dining room table stretches impossibly long. Twenty-four seats. All filled.
I recognize some faces from the company. Others are strangers. All of them watch as we're shown to our seats—Ethan at Kate's right, me beside him, Jake on my other side.
Places of honor. Or places of judgment. I can't tell which.
Kate stands at the head of the table. Picks up her wine glass. The room falls silent immediately.
"Before we begin, I have an announcement to make."
My heart hammers against my ribs. This is it. The moment she either cements our place in this family or tears it apart in front of everyone.
Kate's eyes find mine. Hold for a beat. Then she continues.
"I want to formally introduce my granddaughter-in-law, Sabrina Moore, and my great-grandson, Jake Hale."
