The vineyard was so silent when I arrived, with Amiee trotting along at my side. She was so innocent and carefree, even after everything she had been through. She didn't notice that anything felt off. All she could think about was being able to bake with Mamma and playing football with Dad. Two promises I probably shouldn't have made. The front door to the house was still locked, forcing me to trail around the house to the back door. I had half expected to find that locked too, but it wasn't, thankfully.
