Love after Marriage.

Chapter 2

Lily went back home completely stressed out. She met her mother at home which was unusual. She was in the sitting room seated on the old couch. Lily dropped her bag and walked towards her mother. It was either she cones few minutes before midnight or after midnight. This was just 6pm and she was home.

"Mom?" She called out and sat close to her. Mrs Rose turned her head and faced her daughter. She covered her body with a huge blanket.

"Lily, you are back!" She said in a low tone.

"Yes, I am, so are you. What happened?" She asked in reply and touched her mother's forehead.

"Jeez mom! You're a burning. Come now, let me take you to your room" Lily helped her mother to the room. She had to look for money to buy some drugs for her mother.

"Gently" she muttered, helping her lay on the bed carefully.

"I'll be back mom" Lily said and turned to leave. Mrs Rose grabbed her hand and shook her head.

"You don't need to go get any drugs. Your father will get some on his way back" she said. Lily heaved a breath of relief. She walked to the bathroom and get a bowl of cold water with a towel. She used it to clean her mother's body. She finally placed it on her forehead and went to do some other chores.

After some hours, her father came. He took off his shoes, stretching his head into the house.

"Welcome father" Lily said and grabbed his bag.

"Where is she?" He asked and kissed his daughter's forehead.

"Inside" Lily murmured. He rushed into the room and took the out the drugs. He hurriedly gave it to her. She dozed off after some minutes.

"Will she be alright? Don't you think we should take her to the hospital?" Lily asked her father. He pat her hair and stared at her.

"She'll be fine. You know we don't have enough money to take her to the hospital" Lily sighed and walked out of her mother's room. She finished making dinner for everyone.

After eating, Lily spent the whole night doing her assignment. She slept pretty late and had to wake up early to check on her mother. Her dad already left for work. He was a mere messenger in a company.

Her condition was still the same as yesterday or even a little worse. She was supposed to leave for work very soon but there was no way she could leave. She was very weak.

"Lily?" She called out to her daughter.

"Yes mom" Lily replied way too quickly.

"You should go to the company today. Work in my place please"

"What if I get caught?" Lily asked, almost rejecting her mother's plead.

"You won't. Just clean and... Don't talk to anyone" she said. Lily sighed deeply and slipped her fingers into her hair.

"Fine, I will go and work in your place. You take care of yourself while I'm gone" Lily said. Her mother smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, I will" her mother said as her lips curved into a smile. Lily got dressed quickly and left the house. She wore a simple top and black pants. She tied her hair into a clean ponytail and ran off to the company.

"Together with Mr Gregory's suggestions, we could summarize the whole plan" One of White's business partner said to him.

He hummed as he played with his pen. He spin his chair and stared at the man in front of him.

"Thank you. See you during the next meeting" White said. His partner stood up and left. White sipped water from the cup that was in front of him. He sighed deeply and turned his chair around, staring outside his company.

The door threw open and close again. He already knew who it was, his mother. There was no one that would ever dare to walk into his office without knocking. He spin the chair around and stared at his mother.

"Why are you here now?" He asked.

"I came here to talk to you about the condition I..."

"You what mom? Please, don't talk to me about Lucy or anyone from the Princeton family. There are a lot of other business partners out there"

"Come on now White, she's not that bad. You must go on a date with her today. She's coming over today"

"Mom! Please! I'm not...argh!" White h

Got frustrated and stormed out of the office.

"White! White!" His mother called him back but he didn't stop at all. She fummed and also left the office.

Lily cleaned her own part of the company. No one even noticed her. She sat down to catch some breath. That was when her phone rang. It was Miguel. She quickly answered the phone and placed it on her ear.

"Hey baby" Miguel greeted her.

"Hey" she said faintly.

"Where are you? I didn't see you today" he replied. Lily looked round the company. There was no way she could tell him that she was working in a company.

"My mom is sick, I'm here with her" she replied.

"Oh baby, my regards to her. I'll check on you later"

"Oh no, you don't have to. I'll... I'll see you tomorrow at school" she replied.

"Okay? See you then. I love you Lily"

"Love you too Miguel" she replied and disconnected the call. As she slipped her phone into her pocket, her eyes met with a brown door. She furrowed her eyebrows wondering if she was supposed to clean that office. She grabbed the mop bucket and slowly walked to the room. It was behind the stairs. She got to the door and grabbed the handle. She slowly twisted it and stepped into the room. She shot her eyes open. It wasn't an office. It was more like a comfort zone. She saw someone sitting, facing the other side.

"He must be in charge of this room" she said to herself and dropped the mop. She walked to him and came to an abrupt stop when she stood behind him.

"Hello" she called out. He was a little frightened when he heard her voice. He stood up and shot Lily a hard glare.

"What are you doing here?!" He yelled at her. Lily closed her eyes and started breathing hard. His thunderous voice sent fear down her spine.

"I'm here to clean this room" she stammered with her eyes still closed. He saw the fear in her groaned silently. He hated people to see him in sad mood or when he's crying. Now, some girl that he doesn't know have seen him like this.

"Don't you know this room is restricted from everyone in this company! That include you!" She said and grabbed her by her arm. She shot her eyes and gasped. He was hurting her as he grabbed her.

"I'm sorry. I'll leave now" she said, still breathing hard. He still didn't let go of her hand. He was lost in her eyes. He quickly let go of her hand and pushed her. She hit her back against the wall and groaned in pain.

"Ah!"

"Who are you?" He asked. Lily raised her head and stared at him.

"I'm..." She paused.

"I'm a cleaner" she said. She didn't want them to sack her mother because of the shift she missed. She also couldn't tell them that she came to fill in for her mother.

"I haven't seen you around before" he frowned.

"Yes, but I've seen you around. Maybe you just didn't recognize me" she had to lie. White wasn't still convince. He doesn't know the faces of his employees but still, he was sure that he hasn't seen her before.

He poured some water into the cup on the table and gulped it down he was still angry about the fact that Lily entered into the restricted room.

Lily slowly walked towards the door and opened it to leave. White quickly reached the door and slammed it close.

"I wasn't done with you. I should fire you for breaking the rules" he said. Lily was dumbstruck. There was no way she could let something like that happened. It would affect her mother.

"Please, don't. I'm so sorry for breaking the company's rules. I had no idea about this room" she pleaded, joining her hands together. White wasn't moved by her gestures. He just wanted to get rid of her because she had seen him in a condition he wanted no one to see.

"Give me two reasons why I shouldn't punish you"

"I'm unaware of this room and.. I really want to work to pay my school fees" she replied. He sighed deeply and smirked. He sat on the table and stared at her. Her eyes met with his then she lowered her gaze shyly and also scared.

"Fine, I won't punish you. You must never step foot inside here again. I won't hesitate to get you fired"

"Thank you sir" she said and wanted to leave when Mrs Maybelline walked into the restricted room. Lily stopped immediately. She knew she was the owner of the company but she had no idea who White was.
