There was no mistaking something had happened in the hospital during the short time they were gone. Todd noticed it as soon as he walked through the front doors into the ER. Once bustling with activity and filled past capacity, the place had emptied pretty quick. Not even a nurse still lurked in the deserted building.
The brothers stopped and looked around, surprised at the turn of events. When they resumed walking, they did so cautiously so as not to slip. Pools of blood covered enough of the floor there seemed to be more red than white. Even the chairs were covered and their original color was almost unrecognizable.
Todd stared, wondering what could have caused all the blood. He was no expert, but he was pretty sure it would take a lot of people to make that much.
