( KIMMY'S POV ) As soon as I got the message, I didn't waste more time as I left for my house immediately in order to meet with my father. The servant had actually told me that I was to be home in twenty minutes time. The order seemed way too ridiculous but I was too keyed up to bother thinking again about it. My father had never ordered for me in that manner and I knew it must be a serious thing if it was true. With fear of the worst hovering in my mind, I quickened my steps so I could get home quickly. I reached home as fast as I could with the servant in tow. I hadn't used up to twenty minutes as I was in a mad rush. "Where is my father?" I asked around as soon as I was in the living room. I didn't wait for an answer before I began to move to his room upstairs. I went to his room but I couldn't find him. With frustration, I came back to the sitting room. The servant was still there but I could see my mother with the servant as well. "Good afternoon, mother," I greeted sharply. "Afternoon, Kimmy," she replied with her voice low keyed. "Where is my father? I was told he has been looking for me," I said to my mother anxiously. I could see her hesitate before answering me. Her hesitation was another concern for me. "Your father is alright," she answered. "Where is he?" I asked sharply not minding her look. "He has went out since morning to a meeting of the Alpha's council," she confessed as she lowered her glare at me. "Since morning! But this servant came here and told me that he was calling me," I shouted in anger. The servant knelt down immediately. I could sense a plot between my mother and the servant. "What is happening here?" I asked with my heart boiling up in anger. "Calm down, Kimmy. Actually, I was the one who sent for you," my mother confessed. "What! Why did you have to forge my father's name to catch my attention?" I asked angrily. "I knew you would come but you may not do it quickly enough," my mother said carefully, choosing her words delicately. "So, you mean I don't respect you," I asked slowly. "No, I never did say that," my mother argued. "Then what do you mean?" I asked again, getting confused. "Well, you respect your father more than you respect me," my mother said truthfully. "Well, I do and you know it. I don't think it's anything bad to respect one's father," I proposed confidently. "I didn't say it was," my mother argued again. Now, I was feeling really frustrated. "Okay, could you just tell me why you called me. I am very busy and I need to run along now," I said quickly. "That's what I meant when I said you were disrespecting me. Would you have said this if it were your father talking to you?" My mother asked with rage. "Well, I won't and you know it. Please tell me what you have to say and let me leave," I said quite angrily. "Okay. I had the servant call you and bring you home as I have prepared a very delicious dish for you to try out. It's your favorite," my mother said with a smile befitting her beautiful face. I started to laugh uncontrollably. The whole saga was becoming very confusing and unbelievable. "Why are you laughing?" My mother asked irritatedly. "You mean you called me to taste a dish you cooked. You called me back home from an important matter because of food," I asked, getting more confused. "Yes, it was because of food," my mother said boldly. "You make it sound like food isn't an essential material. Can you live without food? No, tell me if you can." "This is a waste of time," I murmured as I left the place instantly. As I left, not even the screams of my mother could deter me. She seemed too overbearing for me. As I left, my mind filtered to Chloe's rejection. I was saddened by that fact and I went to sit down near the gardens in order to offload. I sat there quietly and thought carefully. In my mind, I was actually thinking about the best possible way to take revenge on Chloe for her rejection. It was all so much for me to bear. I didn't cry, all I did was to slip down and rest. I didn't even know when I slept off. Of course, I couldn't. I couldn't tell how long I had slept when I felt someone tapping me and urging me to wake up. My reactive hormones sprung to life as I eventually woke up seeing the daylight. Beside me, was my father. "Hello!" My father told me. "Good afternoon. Or is it evening already?" I replied as I gazed at the sun as if to get a read of the time. My father didn't answer my question as he just sat down with me quietly. "Today is the grand mating ceremony," my father finally said as he looked up to me. "I know," I replied. "It has been prophesied on the day you were born that on this day, you would find your mate," my father said again. "I know. I know it all," I replied carefully. "No, you don't know it all," my father said confidently. "Really?" I asked. "Yes, but apart from that, I have a question for you," my father said with his face all creased up in worry. "Ask me anything," I replied diligently. I was still amazed at the close relationship which I had with my father. "Are you prepared?" my father asked. "Yes, I am prepared for the question," I replied carefully. "I didn't mean that," my father stated. "I was asking if you were prepared to have a mate." "Oh! Okay. I am absolutely prepared, father," I replied as sharply as I could. "Are you sure?" He asked me back with his face already shining with sweat. The hot sun was making an effect on his body. "Of course, I am. I am very ready to have a mate or do you think I am not mature enough for a mate?" I replied with anxiousness written all over my face. "Of course, you are physically ready," my father said. "I knew it!" I screamed happily. "But..." He tried. "But what?" I asked carefully. "You don't seem emotionally mature. You don't know how to tame your desires," my father pointed out with a frown. "Why did you say that?" I asked carefully as my mind filtered down the source of that controversy. "I heard about your escapades with Chloe today," my father confided confidently. I kept mute now with my heart walloping in fear. "Why would you try it out on her when the Grand mating ceremony is only this evening?" My father asked with his anger declining. I kept mute. I couldn't talk and when I tried to, my voice began to shake. That was how much I feared my father. Instead of talking again, I let everything play out on its own. The remaining moments were for advice and preachings about being a good mate and a future Alpha. At some point, I felt tired of his preaching. At last, my father let me off and I went off to the ceremony venue. I haven't settled down so much there when I smelt a fragrant smell oozing out of nowhere. I knew that what meant; it was my mate around.
