Chapter Twenty-Eight Light brushes my eyelids and gently urges me from dreamland and back to the world of the living. I half open one eyelid and peek out, closing it again almost immediately. Too early. Too bright. My body feels stiff and achy, as if I’ve been curled tightly in one position for too long. I moan and try to stretch my legs out, but— I freeze. My eyes spring open.
