Drip
There is so much blood everywhere. The room is dark and I can't see anything. Voices,
No
Screams
That's what I hear before the gunshots rang. I am trembling and shaking.
Heavy boots walk into the room. They they throw and toss everything.
I don't make a sound.
They kept searching until they gave up but just as he was leaving he stopped, turned around and stalked towards me until.....
I work up with a jerk. My eyes unfocused and my limbs numb as I lay there unmoving. I don't know what day it is and can't tell if it's day or night. The chains on my legs feels heavy and breathing seems like a chore.
I looked around my room, a very bright small space with only the mattress I lay on, and a medium sized bucket in the far end corner of the room which served as a restroom.
The heavy metal door opens and the doctor walks in, a man probably in his fifties and as usual looks at me from head to toe with a scrutinizing gaze before taking my vitals and blood sample and leaves without a word.
I can't remember how long it's been since my family was murdered and I was brought here to serve the purpose of a blood bag. It's been so long but I still remember that day like it was yesterday. It hunts me in my dreams and I have sleepless nights. The door opens again and a lady walks in with my food and drops it on the floor without sparing me a glance as she leaves.
I looked at it not having the appetite for the bland food. The chains on my legs rattles as I lay on my side to ease the pain on my back.
The bell rings, it's bath time and not the type where you sit in it and feel good. Ignoring the pain and soreness I walk slowly towards the end corner of the room, peeling my clothes off and wait. It's not long before bone chilling cold water cascades on my body . It leaves a prickly sensation after but it's better since there's no tell when the next shower will be. I stood there for sometime to dry off a little before putting my clothes back on and walk back to the hard mattress.
It's been two or three days I guess and was taken to the white room. A place where my blood is collected. I am chained to the stretcher and can't move. The doctors hover around me doing whatever and I don't think about it I just stare.
I feel helpless but definitely not hopeless. I know I won't die here.
