Chapter 3 " Finding a solution "

1729 Words
I awoke the next morning with the sun shining through my curtains. It was going to be a great day, I smiled to myself, and an even better night. I was pretty sure I was going to lose my virginity, and not just to any man but the most sexy man I had ever laid eyes on. I thought back to our “conversation” last night. I began to blush at the things I had said to him. I didn't know what he would think of me being a virgin, a detail I had left out last night as he was talking to me. Like I knew what any of those things felt like, but I had imagined them thousands of times before. I had only made it to second base with Bobby. He would touch me through my clothes, but it never lasted long before I pushed his hand away. I glanced at the clock seeing it was almost ten. “s**t” I had a hair appointment at eleven to get ready for my date tonight, with Christopher. I wonder if anyone ever calls him Chris, I thought while stepping into the shower. A half an hour later I rushed out my door with my hair still wet, and a half eaten piece of bacon my mom had insisted on me getting before she would let me out the door. I pulled into the salon 20 minutes later. In Honaker, everything is usually five minutes away, but seeing as we have no salons there I had to drive to the next town, Lebanon, Virginia to get my hair done. Lebanon was bigger than Honaker, but just as boring. There were more stores to shop at, it even had some boutiques, but that was as far as it went. I went into the salon contemplating on how I was going to get the money for college. I was trying to have a great time today and not worry about it, but no matter what I was doing it stayed in the back of my mind. “Gabby!” Amanda broke through my thoughts. Come sit over here, Elicia is ready to do your hair. Amanda had taken cosmetology her freshman, and sophomore year of high school, and had been working at Elicia's salon to save up extra spending money for Cambridge. Elicia was the best hair stylist in Russell County in my opinion, Amanda and I both had been coming here since we were twelve to get our hair done. “So!” said Amanda with a huge grin on her face, I knew what she was going to ask before it even came out of her mouth, “How was your conversation last night with Chris!” she asked excitedly. “Who is Chris?” I heard Elicia ask from behind. “His name is Christopher!” I stated smiling, “and it went amazing.” “Oh,” started Amanda, “excuse me I mean Christopher. What did you guys talk about.” “That my beautiful best friend, is none of your business.” I said laughing. “Well why the secrecy, did you two talk dirty to each other?” asked Amanda mischievously. “ We may have!” I answered with a sly grin. An our passed and finally I head Elicia say, ”Okay, your all done!,” as she took off my frock. I looked in the mirror and loved it. She had gave me subtle caramel highlights with a few mocha lowlights, and mocha underneath as a shadow. She had gave me a style that was cut around my face, and wouldn't take much work to fix. It made me look like I was in my twenties. “Well ladies, I must be off to spend time with my family before my date with the most gorgeous man on earth tonight.” I laughed speaking to both of them. When I arrived back at my house my mom and dad were sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee, and speaking lowly so that I couldn't hear them. “What's up you guys?” I asked them. “Gabby, honey your father and I have been talking and we were wondering if maybe you have changed your mind about Harvard?” my mom asked me with a worried expression on her face. “Absolutely not!” I answered maybe a little to loudly. “Why would you think that?” I asked them. “You don't seem to worried, since we told you yesterday we wouldn't be able to afford it, but honey we will find a way” preached my mother. “Gab honey”, my dad had started calling me Gab when I was ten because he said I never shut up. “We will find a way to get the money, this is nothing I want you to be worrying about, even if I have to sale one of my cars.” he finished. MY dad had been collecting antique ars since I could remember. He had five of them and they were his pride and joy. If he wasn't at work or spending time with us, he was out in the garage tinkering with his cars. He had restored all of them from the ground up, and all the things he could do by himself he did. I prided those cars as much as he did. We had always spent our time together working on them. “Absolutely not!” I told my dad sounding exasperated. “I will never let you sale the cars, they mean to much to us.” I told him. “ I'm just saying Gab, we will find a way.” He told me looking me in the eyes. I could tell my parents hadn't slept, from the shadow and bags underneath their eyes. “ “ I know everything will be fine.” I told them, and you guys are the ones worrying to much.” I felt guilty over my date with Christopher tonight. How could I be so happy and excited, when my parents had been up all night worrying about how to get my tuition paid for. I gave them each a kiss on the cheek and hugged them. “I'm going out tonight to try and get my mind off things for a while, maybe it's something you guys should try.” I told them both with a smile. “I will probably spend the night with Amanda.” I said walking down the hallway to get ready. It was already five o'clock and if I wanted enough time to make everything perfect, before I had to leave at seven I had to get a move on. I started the bathtub running it to the top and filling it with Lavender bath salts. I got in and let the water envelop me up to my chin. I needed to relax. With all the stress from worrying about college, my muscles were so tense it was starting to give me a headache. Seeing my parents look the way they looked today had me worried about them. I shook the thought from my mind not wanting anything to bother me on my date tonight, taking any of my attention away from Christopher. I shaved my legs, careful not to miss a spot, washed my hair with my favorite shampoo and conditioner, and washed my entire body from head to toe, being careful over my sensitive areas, being as they were a little sore from last night's activities. After I finished, I turned on the shower, rinsing off the bath salts that had got on me,from the bathtub. I know I may seem a little OCD, but it was going to be the best night of my life. I got my clothes Amanda had purchased for me yesterday, and laid them on the bed careful not to wrinkly them. I put my robe on, pinned my hair back, and started doing my makeup careful to pay attention to every little detail. I wanted to do a Smokey eye so it would make me look sexy. Finally after the third try I got it right. After finishing my make-up leaving my lipstick for right before I got there so it would be fresh, I started drying my hair. After it was dry I only slight straightened, wanting a sort of messy look that still looked fixed. I dropped my towel to the floor and grabbed my lotion and body spray my aunt had gotten me as a graduation gift. I covered my body in the lotion, and sprayed a fine mist on my entire body with the spray. I looked at the clock. Oh my god! It was already 7:00. I was running late. I had gave myself a thirty minute gap in case anything happened on the highway, but it looked like I was going to be using it at home. Hopefully there were no wrecks. I put on my lingerie, and then my thigh highs careful not to rip them. I then sprayed the body spray over them wanting to smell as good as I could. I then slipped on my black pumps, admiring in the mirror how great they had my calf muscles looking. Lastly I slipped on my “little black dress”, and marveled in the mirror at how much older and sophisticated I looked. I grabbed my deodorant and applied it, and then my perfume. Obsession, what a fitting name. I sprayed it on my wrist and behind my ears, lastly spraying a couple sprays on and under my dress. That's it, I was ready. It was time to start the night I had been dreaming about since I was fifteen. I looked at the clock, 7:30. I had just enough time to get there, seeing there was no hold up on the freeway As I was walking out the door I heard my phone go off. I picked it up and opened my messages. It was Christopher. My heart dropped! What if he was going to cancel? I opened the message. Christopher: I spent all day thinking of last night, and worrying you would cancel on me. I'll see you at the restaurant. Be careful Baby!!! Oh my gosh, how sweet! Should I just wait to talk to him at the restaurant, or should I text him back now. I decided I would go ahead and text him worried he would think I was going to stand him up. Gabby: I have been thinking of you all day also. Can't wait to see you, I'm leaving my house now. See you in a few gorgeous!!!
