Sera’s voice cut through the night again, sharper this time.
“Move. It has already crossed the outer marker.”
Kael pulled on his pants and shirt in seconds. I did the same, my body was still sensitive to what we had just done. The bond between us was quiet for the first time in days, deep and settled, but the new threat outside left no room to linger on it.
Lila met us at the entrance, face pale. “What is a collector?”
“Something that hunts rare bloodlines,” Sera answered as she appeared from the trees. “It does not kill quickly. It takes. The sanctuary will slow it, but it will not stop it forever. You need to leave along the northern path before it reaches the heart of this place.”
