My head calculated and spun on what I was going to tell my mother, but she was not asking any questions. At least, not yet. The front door swung open with a soft click, and I stepped into the house like a king returning to his rightful throne. The air smelled like lemon polish and old memories. Memories of simpler times when the worst thing I had to worry about was missing dinner or not doing my homework on time. Now?
