Chapter Sixteen Emptying the Bowl Kimberly awoke with a vague memory of Alex leaning over the bed and kissing her head. The aroma of a smorgasbord breakfast: pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs filled her waking breath. Rose petals fluttered as she lifted the bed sheets away, and she caught a trail that ran off the bed, picked back up on the floor, and rounded the corner into the house. She followed it to find Alex carrying plates. A bouquet of more rose adorned the dining room table. “Good morning, Kimberly.” “How early did you wake up to do all this?” Alex was watching her gingerly walk. “What’s wrong?” “What’s wrong? I’m sore, that’s what. That was the first time I’d had s*x in over a year.” “I’m sorry.” “Don’t worry; it’s a good kind of sore. And don’t get male-ish on me.
