Arthur’s POV Uncontrollable rage came to me like fire. It struck the moment General Rowan spoke the words. “Your Highness… Daniel was chased near the marketplace.” The room went silent. I rose so fast my chair fell backward. “Chased?” My voice was low, deadly. “By whom?” Rowan shook his head. “Unknown. Daniel escaped before the guards could intervene. He returned shaken.” Why is Daniel so stubborn? I had warned her. Ordered her. Confined her to remain in the palace for her safety. And still—someone had dared to touch what was under my protection. “Where is he?” I demanded. “In his quarters.” I didn’t answer. I was already moving.
