The palace courtyard was quiet when they returned.
Arthur walked beside Daniel, still checking again if she was hurt. Damon followed closely, now alert and serious.
Lady Selena walked slightly behind them, her expression calm and gentle.
When they entered the main hall, with eyes watching them, servants bowed quickly. Word had already spread that Daniel had been rescued.
The Queen stood near the throne room entrance, her face unreadable.
Arthur stopped in front of her while Daniel stood quietly beside him.
Lady Selena stepped forward and lowered herself gracefully.
“Your Highness,” she said softly. “Please forgive me for my past mistakes. I know I have betrayed your trust.”
