Walking into her father's office she could feel how mad he was, she had told her friends to wait in the kitchen with her mother. She knew this was her idea and she would take the blame for it. She also wanted to know why he was mad about them volunteering when they were warriors and his exact words were any warrior can volunteer to make their pack proud during the kings visit.
Holding her head high she looked at her father. She never had a visit with them that didn't end with them arguing because Jaxon loved to manipulate the truth, and make her look bad. "You asked to see me?" She spoke calmly. "You deliberately disobeyed me Andrea." He replied through his teeth. "I don't see how I did. You know as well as I do that I am one of the strongest warriors we have. How would it look for our pack to let four inexperienced warriors to guard the borders when the king is here?" She retorted though it didn't help her case any. "Where are the other three?" Was all he asked. "They're in the kitchen with mom. I told them to stay there, you can't punish them for my decisions. With all the attacks lately all we had that was willing or able to volunteer were new recruits, you wanted two at the norther border and two at the southern."
"This isn't about who's better!" He snapped. "This is about the fact the alpha kings pack don't agree with females being warriors! It's a smack in the face if we have not just one but four guarding while he's here! Also it's disrespectful if my whole family isn't here to greet him when he arrives!" He was spitting as he yelled at her. Something she was far too use to.
She knew how the kings pack viewed women. She had also prepared for him to ask questions about who was guarding while he was here. Four of the new recruits were more than willing to say they were the ones guarding if he asked to meet them. The one thing she didn't think about was herself being the alphas daughter, she never looked at herself as such. Her parents idolized her bothers and barly paid her any attention. So she said the first thing that popped in her mind, "Who all knows you have a daughter?" His eyes widened indicating to her that not very many knew, she was use to not being involved with any pack business when it came to her family. One reason why she threw herself into training and fighting. "I'm going to assume it's just our pack, make an order they are not to speak of me as your child. The king won't know the difference. Going to again assume he knows about my brothers, and they are far too willing to act like I'm nothing to them anyways. It'll be easy to get them to agree, I'll address you as alpha while he's here. I'm taking the northern border as it is, so I'll be far enough away to stay out of your business, if I need to alert you of anything I'll go through uncle Bay. It's too late to change plans right now our patrol starts in two days." She was trying to get her father to understand that she was right, but she knew her father also loved to make a fool out of her. Send her on missions to make sure she wasn't home during one of their many pack party's. She didn't understand why he was so set on her being here this one time.
Without saying anything her father motioned for her to sit down in the ugly green chair in front of his desk. Choosing not to make things worse she did as he wanted. "Fooling other packs are easy Andrea, we didn't tell them about you because then they would want to push to see if their son is your mate." She looked at him confused. They already did that with their daughters for her brothers, what difference would it have made? "Having a female mate of alphas blood makes her a strong Luna, but having us as on their side because of you being my daught will make it even better for them. As you know we are the strongest packs second only to the alpha kings pack. I know what you're thinking, and when your brothers find their mates they would be joining our pack. You however would join the pack of your mate, unless he was ranked lower than you were and you could push for him to join, but I have a feeling that's nit how it'll work with the way women are looked at. You changed that for our pack, proving how strong you are and showing to myself and our pack women can do just as much as a man." He sighed knowing he didn't have a foot in his argument. If Andrea was anything it was hardd headed a trait she inherited from no other then the man in front of her. "Dad, if we want to show other packs that women aren't just a breeding machine then we have to start somewhere. I promise nothing will happen to ruin the kings stay here. I'll personally make sure if anyone crosses our borders they won't get far. And don't punish the others, it was all my idea for us to do this. I'll take my punishment when the task is done and I'll take theirs as well." She swallowed the lump in her throat hoping he was in a good enough mood to agree with her.
Before he could respond someone knocked on the door. He got up to answer when she felt the air change in the room. Knowing that it could only be one person. Only a Mate can change the mood of the other from angry to calm in seconds. It was her mother, the one who pushed her out of the family in the first place. She never understood why she never paid her any mind nor did she understand why she came up here. She focused her hearing to listen in on their conversation.
