Chapter 26Pam stood still, holding onto the back of Ian's starship captain's chair, looking at the starfield and the planet below them. It was mostly red and black except where dark clouds obscured the surface. As she watched a volcano belched a huge column of smoke into the air. Parts of the surface looked like molten lava. It was a hellish world. “That doesn't look like a sunny pleasure planet,” Pam said. Ian's forehead creased. “No, it doesn't. That's not what I ordered up.” “Sir! Inertial dampers are failing!” Pam screamed and jumped around. There was a handsome young man with a strong jaw in a matching uniform at a console behind her. His hands flew across the panels. “I can't stabilize it, sir! The planet's irregular gravitational field is disrupting our systems!” “Who is that?
