CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE Haseki spent that night alone in a beautifully appointed personal room. Enameled tiles sparkled in the moonlight. Luxurious cushions and carpets were soft beneath bare feet. The suite had its own marble balcony that offered an intimate view over a private courtyard full of greenery, flowerbeds and fountains. Kneeling there on the stone, her chin and hands resting on the balustrade, she was enthralled by the fireworks as their bright colors blossomed in the night sky. Is this Suleyman really as wonderful as his touch, as the spark in his eyes?
