Mara laid across the bed flipping through books twirling her fingers in her short dark hair. It had to be perfect. Every step, done in order. Nothing could happen to Lily. She couldn't lose her baby sister. She had already dealt with the loss of her parents. The ache had dulled over the years but the pain of their loss would always haunt her. Her only solace rested in the fact that she had kept her promise to her parents and protected Lily.
But to be honest, Mara was exhausted, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The burden that she has had to bear over the past decade has caught up with her. She wanted nothing more to return to her little shop in Maine. Where she could sell her oils and herbal mixtures. She was an apothecary of sorts. Not widely known but well trusted in her community of believers. Some people came to her instead of going to their doctors. Mara was well versed in health and healing. She could make things grow and she knew when energies were unbalanced and how to restore that balance. Healing others restored her own energy. Lately, she had been pouring all her efforts into a shielding spell for Lily. It had to be renewed constantly and her strength was waning.
Closing her light green eyes, Mara pictured herself in her garden at home. She focused on the smell of her lavender and the bright colors of her echinacea and dandelions. She could hear her wind chimes and-
"Mara!!" Sophia screamed as she jumped on top of her sister. Mara jumped and began giggling as her sister attacked her sides with her fingers. Sophia usually wore her long curly hair in a braid that was just perfect for pulling.
"Stop! Stop it! I hate when you do this! Please!" Sophie kept up with Mara as she tried to roll and twist away. She could see her sister folding in on herself and wanted to pull her out of that spiral.
Mara tugged at Sophia's braid but Sophia squirmed enough to be able to keep up the attack without too much damage to her scalp.
"Say mercy!" Sophia loved to tease her sisters. She believed that humor could fix anything.
"Please Sophie. I- I- give. MERCY! MERCY!" Mara was at the point of tears. Her laughter came out as wheezing she was so out of breath. Sophia finally gave in. Choosing instead to embrace her sister while the both caught their breath.
"What's wrong Mara? Your smile looks thin."
"What does that even mean?" Mara huffed.
"You know what it means. Do you need help this time?" Sophia was playing with Mara's short locks. Waiting for her to answer. Wondering if she would be honest this time. Mara never liked to show weakness. She was always trying to put on a brave face for everyone since their parents died.
Mara casts a wary glance at Sophia. Hating and loving her at the same time. How did she know? Mara needed to reinforce the shield. But that meant expending more energy. Energy that was in low supply. She needed to get back to her garden, put her hands in the earth. Living things were the source of her power. She didn't steal life however, she shared energy and gave some back when she was able.
"Yeah. I do."
Sophia and Mara sat in front of each other on the floor. They held hands and then touched foreheads. They synchronized their breathing and their heart beats caught the same rhythm. Their energies merged and pulsed outward to the cadence of their heart beat. It wrapped around them lovingly making their hair sway like it was caught in the breeze. The energy quivered and rose up above them beautifully incandescent and warm. They thought of Lily and her lifeforce. The spell was powerful and could be used to anyone with a blood bond. They push the energy out. Everything in the room is affected as the energy explodes from the room. The curtains rustle and the walls vibrate. A bottle of soda falls off of the breakfast bar.
Mara and Sophia sit on the floor holding hands. Sophia's eyes travel over her sisters shaking form in concern. Mara's skin is covered in a sheen of sweat. Her eyes glassy.
"Oh, Mara-"
"Sophie, I'm not okay." Mara fell into her sister's arms exhausted.

Lily leaned back on Trent’s door. Still humming with need. She satisfied her alpha but left herself wanting. The throb between her legs was crippling and she couldn't trust herself to not take advantage of all that the man was offering. Bravely, she starts off down the hall, desperate to get back to her own room and take care of the ache between her legs.
Suddenly Lily can feel the energy sliding over her like a second skin. It must be her sister reinforcing the energies again. Usually the sensation is stifling but Lily really needs it today. She feels like she's going to vibrate out of her own body. Walking was becoming more difficult because of all the friction. Lily prayed she could make it back to her room before her knees gave out.
Getting off the elevator on her floor Lily sprints to her room fiddling with the door key. She barely notices her sisters in the living area as she closes her door and locks it.
Lily struggles with the tie on her pajama bottoms. She doesn't even bother getting on the bed. She just needs a sweet release as soon as possible. She finally gets her hand in her pajama bottoms, her fingers going right where she needs them. Her underwear is soaked and her core makes obscene noises as she moves her fingers in and out to soothe the ache. In seconds Lily is biting her lip to control her shout as she comes hard. Hard enough to send her falling to the ground. The orgasm only makes her ache worse. It makes her feel empty.
"Lily. Are you ok? Did something happen with Trent?" Sophia is banging on her door. Lily just wants to sleep for a week.
"Let me take a shower babe and then we'll talk." Lily drags herself from the floor to wash up. Her cheeks burn thinking about what she did this morning. Her sisters would be so ashamed of her. Or would they. She was the only virgin among them so they might not mind. They might even be proud of her. But all of those talks can come later. When she's lonely and missing Trent, she can reminisce about this time in her life.
Feeling slightly better after her shower, Lily seeks out Sophia. When she steps into the living room, she sees Mara lying on the couch and Sophia smoothing her hand down her back and sides. Lily walked over and sat on the floor, using the couch as a backrest.
"Sophie-"
"She's ok. Mara is just resting. She wasn't being honest with us about how much energy she was using. We need to go home soon. A few days in her garden and she'll be right as rain."
"So she's just-"
"Sleeping. Yeah." Turning to her baby sis, Sophia could feel anxiety and pain coming from her.
"Where does it hurt?"
"It's ok Sophia. You don't have to. It must be my period." Lily was embarrassed to tell Sophia the real source of her discomfort. She ached to have Trent buried deep inside her, f*****g her unconscious. But she couldn't say that.
"Hmm. No. It's something else. Your whole aura seems bright. Almost angry. Or passionate? I've never seen it like this before. No wonder Mara is working so hard. It must have something to do with that wolf."
Before Lily could stop it Sophia placed her hand over her lower belly. Lily immediately relaxed at the warm touch. Her soothing energies dulled the sharp pain in her womb. Lily was still amazed and jealous of Sophia's ability to heal. It wasn't something she did often and she never used it on anyone other than her and Mara.
“You are so amazing. Thanks Sophia." The two sat in silence for a long while.
"I'm grateful that you're doing this Lily. But it's not fair. And when you asked me before about wanting to fight back. I would give anything to avenge our parents. To avenge all of us. Look at this. What have we become?"
Lily embraced her sister. It was often that she got to see the vulnerable side of Sophia. She was the jester out of the three of them and never liked to have a serious conversation. Lily knew that Mara must be in bad shape. But Sophia pulled back with a deep sigh.
"We do what we must. But let's focus on you now Lily. You have a wedding to go to and an alpha wolf to tame."

Trent was staring at himself in the mirror of the hotel room. Still recovering from his breakfast with Lily. He couldn't believe how she had taken control and dominated him. He had so many things to tell her. So many things he wanted to do to her but he was defenseless against this.
"Tonight. I have to tell her tonight-" Trent mumbled. More than anything he wanted to go to her room and finish what they started this morning. But he had a wedding to get ready for. He also was afraid of her reaction. Would she run away screaming? Would she report him to the police?
The only way to prove what he was, was to show her. He would have to shift in front of her but was he even ready for that? He hadn’t taken the form of his wolf for years. He often ignored that side of himself. The primitive and impulsive but powerful force that was always under the surface. He lived in a bustling city and couldn't risk being seen or captured. He had some wooded land at his house that he ran on when he was desperate. Not having a pack made him anxious. So it was more comfortable to remain human. But ever since he found his mate, his Lily, that side of him has been harder to ignore. Things with him and Lily had been moving at light speed because he couldn't control his impulses. He saw her and he took her. No questions. No apologies. The fact that she was a virgin was the only thing keeping her safe from him now. He wasn't a complete animal.
Fear of losing her kept him silent this morning. But tonight he would claim Lily and never let her go.
