Fatal Attraction

I was just as confused as Kaylee looks right now as this was about my fifth encounter for the month of someone treating me as though I was offending them. The only thing was that my counterparts were all vampires. Kaylee doesn’t seem to be a vampire, unless she is half vampire like I am, I thought to myself as I stared at her nervous face from her window. Since my family accused me of an indistinguishable scent that triggered fear and confusion, I took longer baths! I take care of all my hygiene well. I really don't know what her problem was. Ordinary girls would fling themselves at me because of my good looks, unless she is not ordinary, I thought. I am just so highly irritated by her reaction earlier today. I was about ready to confront her, but instead I just parked my motorcycle and looked from a distance, enough to feel the comfort of her beauty, as she stared right back at me. It's almost like I feel connected to her. So many thoughts kept coming all at once, I must get to the bottom of this. There must be something special about her. After a long and thoughtful look, I got on my motorcycle and left struggling with my thoughts of "Why is she able to scent me? Is she what I think she is? Nahhh! She looks human." I argued with myself as if to satisfy my confusion. I couldn’t wait for class today. I stood in the shower a little longer, I doubled up on my hygienics, I even combed my hair as I hoped whatever they were sensing would vanish. I stood in the corridor eager to see her, all the beautiful sweet young ladies kept waving and winking at me, boosting my confidence more and more. I waited and waited patiently, then there she was looking at me from across the room, looking at me the same way she was looking at me the day before. She just walked away quickly. I just didn’t understand, now I am strongly suspecting her of being something other than human. She looked at me like s**t, just like the people in my village that used to love me. “Why does she even matter to me?” I thought to myself. Now I am embarrassed to even go to class. I just stood looking so empty and gloomy at all the blurred smiles that kept embracing me. I scurried through the day’s lesson trying not to look at her unimpressed face. She looked as though she was under so much pressure. "My parents are vampires, maybe my mother will give me some closure," I thought to myself. After classes, I eagerly made my way through the narrow trails of the deep dark forest on my motorcycle, to the village where I spent almost my entire life. I lived there with my mother, stepfather and half-sisters. They were all vampires. The entire village is vampires. It is a home created where vampires have the freedom to be themselves. However, they all wore white clothes covering their entire bodies from the head to the feet, once out in the glare. The glare burns, the heat disintegrates their skin, causing aging quickly. They will lock themselves in a freezer or bury themselves in snow to rejuvenate their youthful appearance after a warm day. Their skin will glitter in the dark but is pale as snow in the day. Their blood was not like that of humans, it was black and thick. I never knew my biological father, for he was never spoken of. All I knew was that I am only half vampire with no strength or physical characteristics. It was almost dark when I arrived at the little village. Everyone was staring at me like I was an enemy. I think if I say anything or make any funny move I will be mugged. I feel like a stranger in my own home. The only reason they are probably sparing me right now is because I am well known to be Mrs. Harper’s Son. I quickly parked, and I walked briskly as I looked into the eyes of fear and confusion. I walked as though I was running to my parents' cabin. "You smell like a wild animal! We can smell you coming from a mile away!" my sister Sophie stopped me before I could have entered the gates. "What is wrong with you?" My stepfather asked as a warning to stay away, as he grabbed his daughters into his arms. “I have questions that I need answers mother!” I roared angrily. "Liam it's like we can smell you coming from a distance, you smell like a familiar scent like our enemy, but not really like our enemy, it just smells weird, I just can't put my finger on it!" My mother tried to explain, but it just did not make any sense to me. "How can someone smell threat off of another!? Its garbage mother!!" I yelled. "This village has not had any confusion for the past fifty years. I think it’s best if you remain in the cabin that your uncle gifted you, at least until we figure things out" Mr. Harper intervened with a calm tone. I never liked this motherfucker as he never treated me like a son. He would do and say anything to get rid of me. It has always been his plan all along. "I will have Dr. Lee come see you this evening." He added. I immediately looked at my mother, who nodded her head dumbly in agreement. "You are agreeing with this asshole mother!?" "Liam, watch your mouth" she shouted. "Liam I am sorry!", "My hands are tied here!" "You leave me no choice!" "I promise we are going to work things out!" " But you must go, now!" dumbfounded and confused, I stood and looked into their scared eyes as tears just kept trickling down my sorrowful face, as I had never felt so betrayed and alone. I left the village in the stillness of the dark night with a sick feeling in my chest. Later that evening, Dr. Lee, who had been the family’s Doctor for as long as I could remember came just as Mr. Harper mentioned that he would. I agitatedly allowed him to check my vitals and draw vials of blood. Dr. Lee is an old Chinese human doctor. The vampires trust him with their lives as he knows some old Chinese techniques that he will use to manipulate the mood and the atmosphere of his patience. "Liam, your vitals are not good, your blood pressure is higher than the vampire's average and human's average." " Your temperature is very high, you need to rest" "And the scent that they all are accusing me of?" I quickly asked. “I can’t tell probably later when I run the test” he replied. He saw the troubles in my eyes, without a question asked using one of his techniques he slowly coerced me to sleep like a magician in the night. In the wee hours of the morning, I sprung awake as though I was locked in a nightmare trying to escape for a long time. My alarm hung busily, I frantically lifted my phone to shut the noise off when I noticed a little note and read "I know someone who knows who your father is, you should visit her, she would answer all your questions. She is your grandmother Leila. She lives in the Shadow Forest. Just follow your heart along the trail. You will find her. I hope this helps."
