It took a few weeks for them to feel right again. Gradually, Dakota made up for the pain he caused. He paid for it in sorrys and kisses and affirmations of love. He apologized, wholeheartedly, but he also tried to make himself clear through actions. Sweet things like preparing breakfast or letting Terrell make some decisions for the town. He couldn’t lie about Gage, about how he felt, even now. But he could make damn sure Terrell understood that he was loved. So, Dakota did his absolute best. And it seemed to pay off. Terrell soon returned to his old self. He seemed content to leave the past behind them.
