Seven days was a long time. Though they kept themselves busy with chores and talking—and sometimes not talking—it was tedious at best. When the weather cooperated. When it didn’t? Riding two cold, wet, and unhappy animals was hell. Minimal sleep, a low-ration diet, and muscle pain made Ken occasionally terse with Yuuki, and she hated herself for it.
She always apologized. Always. But Yuuki didn’t deserve her snippiness. She was going through similar issues, and she never raised her voice or even seemed annoyed with Kenna.
