Exactly Three hours I've managed to cook all kinds of delicate dishes as per my stepmother's request. starters, main course and desert all laid perfectly on the table. I looked at my handy work and smiled, feeling very proud of myself.
One of the odd Jobs I do includes cooking for a very well off family here in the community, I started as a cleaner and advanced to cooking under a head chef together with two other ladies. I started working when I was thirteen years old, the abuse had intensified and I was not bought clothes and sanitary essentials anymore.
I headed off to the kitchen to clean up everything before heading to my bedroom where I was told I'd remain until the visitors leave. I finished tidying up decided to quickly shower. I felt very sticky the shower did wonders.
Sitting in my bedroom I decided to take my books and catch up on some of my school work. My friend Mandy came and dropped off some notes for me, I was grateful I was alone in the kitchen when she came. I'm not really allowed to have friends or visitors.
Marinda burst in my room looking at me intensily. Ok what have I done now, I made sure everything was perfect and double-checked after cleaning the kitchen. " Listen here you dirty thing, don't dare come down stairs until we tell you so. We are receiving very important guests in 10mins and we don't want you with your skinny sickly looking self scaring them off, are we clear"
I nodded only, not being very sure how to answer that. She banged the door on her way out. Ok! that was very weird. Who are these important people making Marinda so nervous. I immediately remind myself it's none of by business and get back to my books.
I hear sounds of cars driving in the yard I decide to check on the window, I've never seen such expensive looking cars before. I guess Britney was serious when she said he's very rich. I step away from the windows and continue with my school work.

We quickly head to the door hand in hand with my husband Ruben to present a perfect family picture. My husband opens the door and we are both so astonished none of us utter a word, we just stand there in total awe.
One of the guys clears their throat and that quickly brings us back to our senses. " Eh Uhh welcome please come inside" Ruben says in a shaky voice. Ruben squirmed a little on his seat feeling the tension in the room. Oh yes how can I forget? I was only being polite we can not have people of such high caliber and not offer them anything to drink.
That will not be necessary thank you for the offer, we are not friends and this is not a social visit but merely a business transaction. I am here to collect my debt Ruben. Greg mentioned in a cold and dismissive tone.
Ruben immediately asked his wife to fetch their daughter. Marinda quickly ran upstairs to fetch Britney. Hey baby are you done with your make up? "Almost" shouted Britney.
Ok your husband is very impatient please let's go.
