It had been a few weeks since the family trip and Jade had woke up in the morning one weekend to make Aiden breakfast. Since arriving home, things had gone back to normal. Aiden was his usual cold and insensitive self and had gone back to ignoring. It would be a lie to claim that she wasn't hurt after all the possibilities he had shown her on the trip of them being a real couple but here they were back to square one. She would ask him what he wanted to eat, but he would usually reply, "anything." So she would usually just make him something she thought he would like. She went to the kitchen and whipped up some eggs and toast with some coffee. "I made you breakfast" Jade said as she placed his food on the dining table. "I don't have time for breakfast" Aiden replied grabbing a apple from the basket. "Are you really not going to take even a bite" she stated. Aiden could sense her anger. "Listen, there is no point getting worked up over breakfast, you eat it it since you want to make such a fuss about it" he told her as he picked his bag and made for the door. "My anger is justified Aiden, I put effort into making this" She shouted after him. as he slammed the front door closed She barely argued or fought him, but this was unfair; she thought. She couldn't just sit and let him mistreat her all the time. After Aiden left, she took a break to let off some steam. After she felt she had completely calmed down, she sat on her bed and got some work done. She made some phone and video calls, went over some paper works and did some contract sign offs. She was engrossed in the readings that she was startled when her phone suddenly rang from the sitting room. She briskly walked to where she had left and answered. "Good Morning Dad, how are you?" she asked. "I'm doing just good darling, how are you, how is Aiden?" he replied. "We are doing just fine" she told him. "Is there a reason you're calling?" "So i can't call my beloved daughter just because I missed her" He said. "Dad, you know that's not what I meant" she grumbled. "I'm just pulling your legs sweetheart" he laughed. "But really, I just called to hear your voice; I haven't seen or heard from you in a long time" he confessed. "Maybe I should visit you later, would you like me to?" she inquired. "I would love that" he stated. "Alright then, I will see you soon" A few hours later, she was visiting her father at his home. Her mother had died when she was only a child and her father had single handedly raised until she was older. She was so grateful and appreciative of his effort in raising her. It was the very reason she hadn't protested when he suggested that she get married to Aiden for the sake of the company. As soon as her dad saw her come through the door of the house, he instantly took her in his arms; in a warm hug. "I've been eagerly waiting for you" he revealed. "Hello dad" she kissed his cheek. "do you want to drink something, I'll alert the maid" he offered. "I would like some water" she requested. They went to his library where he spent most of his day reading. Soon, the water was delivered and she she drank it up. "Why do I see sadness written all over your face?" he asked. "I'm fine" she mentioned with no confidence in her voice. "You're lying to me aren't you?" he pointed. Jade was taken aback. "Dad, no I'm not lying?" she replied, fidgeting. All of his attention was now on her. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "You are, out with it" he ordered. "Fine!" she sighed. We are not happy, in fact, he's miserable with me" she confessed. "What do you mean you're not happy, why is he miserable?" he inquired. "Basically speaking, we are not the happily married couple you think we are, we had you all fooled" she explained. "We pretended to be in love; along the way, I fell in love along the way, his feelings remained unchanged and that's the situation" she concluded. "It's really been difficult this past year and a half, I'm really unhappy in this marriage" she sobbed. "I see" he sighed. "What would you have me do, because I could get you divorced and stop the merging" he suggested. "As beneficial this merging will be for King Corporations, I can't have my daughter miserable. If you had said you didn't want to marry him when I asked you, I wouldn't have gone ahead with this" "It's fine dad, I did it for your sake. You've done so much for me since my childhood. I t was a token of my gratitude towards you" she revealed. "Oh darling" he sighed, taking her into his arms. "I love you" "I love you too" she leaned into his embrace. "Don't ever do anything that makes you miserable again. I want you to always stay happy and healthy so that when I leave, I will be rest assured that you'll be fine" he adds. "I promise to be happy and healthy" she assured him. "And you will be here to see it" they smiled at each other.
