"I mean, it's not like he's mine; so why do I feel so jealous" Jade said to Laurie as they stood around the bar of the party they were currently attending. A friend of their was throwing a birthday, and Laurie had dragged Jade along with her. Jade was quite tipsy from all the shots she was taking. "It's because you love him of course" Laurie pointed out. "But I've been doing so good until today" she pointed. " I interacted and spoke to him less, I minded my business and tried not to stand in his way whatsoever. And it was going well until I saw that photo under his pillow" she slurred. "Sure, I can't deny the fact that I love him but for heaven sake, I was doing great these past few weeks" "You were suppressing your emotions, but that feeling was still there; hidden within you" Laurie mentioned. "Those pictures only provoked those feelings you were trying to get rid off" "Do you know what Laurie?" she turned to her best friend. ."I think I should stop revolving my life around him. Enough is enough; I can't be this miserable for the rest of my life because of him" "Agreed" Laurie replied. "What are going to do then?" "Get myself a man" Jade stated with bluntness. "Wha-what?!" Laurie was shocked by her. "You can't be serious!" "The quickest way to forget one man is through another" Jade mentioned. "I'm going for a rebound Laurie, are you with me?" she asked laying her hand out to her. Laurie paused for a second. "On board!" she shouted, slapping Jade's stretched out palm. "I'll be your wingwoman, I can already spot some potential rebounds" she stated. "Alright, that's the spirit" Jade said. Jade took of her wedding ring. They started scanning the room. "Oh see that guy over there, the one in grey" Laurie's pointed out. "Yes" Jade replied. "He's been staring at you for the past 10 minutes, maybe we can consider him for a rebou- s**t!s**t!, he's coming towards you" "Oh my God!, I don't want to do this rebound thing any more; i'm nervous!" Jade squealed. She could feel herself becoming sober already. "No!, you have to go with it no matter what!" Laurie whispered as the they guy got closer. "Don't be a chicken" "Oh God, oh-" "Hi girls!" he greeted them. "Hi!" they both said in unison. "What is your name?" he asked her. "Jade" she replied nervously. "I'm Todd" he smiled.Jade found him rather handsome and charming. "Nice to meet you Todd" she returned the smile. "So how do you know the celebrant?" he asked. "We were schoolmates" Laurie had already disappeared to give them some space. "How do you know him? "He is a childhood friend and neighbour" Todd smiled. They continued to make small talk and he turned out to be quite funny. There were no awkward moments throughout the conversation and he made her laugh a lot. "Isn't that your wife, I see over there" Aiden's friend pointed out to him as they sat around a table talking. "My wife couldn't possibly be here, how would she know the celebrant" Aiden dismissed what his friend said. "No dude, it is her; and she's talking to a guy" No sooner had those words flown from his friend's mouth, he turned around, and lo and behold; there was Jade laughing and talking to some stranger. "Whoa!, that is her" He suddenly stood up. He wasn't too happy about the scene unfolding before his eyes. He suddenly wanted to rip that guy away from his wife. "Excuse me, would you get away from her!" Aiden angrily stated as he pulled Jade away, wrapping his arm protectively around her waist. "What are you doing?" she cried, trying to remove herself from his grasp. "Dude who are you?!" Todd responded angry as well. "Who am I you ask?!" Aiden yelled. he inched closer to Todd, they looked like they were about to fight any second from then. "Yes I would like to f*****g know who you are?!" Todd asked. "Guys, please just stop" Jade pleaded. "I'm her husband and she's my wife" Jade gasped. This was the last thing she was expecting him to do. He had never addressed her as his wife and he had never acknowledged himself as her husband. "Well I didn't know that" Todd retorted. Well now you know, so leave! her alone!" He shouted dragging Jade along . They ended up outside. "I'm taking you home" he stated pulling her towards his car. "I'm not leaving with you, I'm a grown woman and I can make my own decisions" she pulls her hand out of his grip. I'm not going to leave you here so some sleazy guys can chat you up okay!" he shouted. "I do not appreciate some guy hitting on MY WIFE!" He shouted. "Soon to be EX!" She shouted back at him. She had, had enough of his childlike tantrums. She wasn't going to allow him to control her. "But still my wife!" he bellowed. "I don't understand why you have to come and do this!" she stated. "Remember what you said; I'm your wife only in name! so don't come here controlling me!" she attempted to run back inside, but he pulled her to him; she fell onto his chest. "You belong to me, get it!" He shouted. "You're mine and I won't let ANYONE!-ANYONE!- take you away from me!" he yelled. They stared at each other. She wondered what was running through his mind. she would give anything just to hear his thoughts. What could've have possessed him to say such a thing, when he had never completely expressed interest in her; except when he was acting hot and cold towards her.
