Jade woke up the next morning to her normal routine, as she usually followed. She took a shower and changed clothes before going down to breakfast. Aiden had already left for work as he usually did. She however, worked from home; unless she was required to go to the office. Which was occasional. Working from home was something her father had suggested in order for her to focus on her marriage. A Marriage which unknown to him was non existent. She was feeling pretty hungry, so she decided on some coffee and cheese on toast. She went to the kitchen to prepare her breakfast, upon which she sat on the counter to complete her work for the day. By 4 pm, she had concluded all her tasks so she chose to make a trip to a friends house.
She pulled up to the apartment complex of her best friend Laurie's house and parked her car carefully. She then approached the building and buzzed for her friend.
"Hello, who is this?" she heard Laurie call out from the intercom.
"Hey Laurie, it's me, Jade!" she responded into the intercom. The door swung open and she made her up the lift to Laurie's door. Laurie was there to receive her.
"Hey there friend!" Laurie greeted her excitedly.
"Hey Laurie" she replied as she let her inside.
"Do you want something to drink maybe?" Laurie suggested.
"Yeah, I could do with some water" Jade responded as she made her way into Laurie's kitchen. Laurie had always given her the permission to as she pleased in her house, especially because they'd known each other for so long, and they were best friends too.
"Hey what happened to you hand?" Laurie questioned worriedly.
"Just a slight burn I received while I was boiling some water" Jade explained.
"wow, that must have hurt" Laurie winced at the thought of it.
"it definitely feels a lot better" Jade told her. "Not to worry"
"So, update me on your life, what's happening with you and Aiden; any improvement so far?" Laurie asked as they both settled on the couch.
"No, not really" Jade replied. "Pretty much the same"
"You don't seem so interested in making things work. You do want things to work out between you two, don't you?" Laurie asked.
"Of course I do, I really do" Jade replied. "I freaking love him and you know that, you don't think I want us to be together?"
"So what is preventing things from moving forward" Laurie asked. "You should try to seduce him, entice your husband, for God's sake". She sighed frustratedly.
"Laurie, He and I don't seem to stand a chance, at all" Jade explained.
"What makes you think that?" Laurie said.
"We've been married a little over a year and there's not been no effort on his side; I tell you, it's impossible" Jade told her. "We only pretend to be in love for the public and for our parents"
"I'm sure he would have developed some feelings or you somehow, its impossible to think that after two years, he feels nothing towards you" Laurie stated.
"Things would have advanced further than it has, if he really did develop any feelings at all for me." Jade pointed out.
"And you really sure he feels nothing?" Laurie inquired.
"I don't know. Sometimes he can be very sweet; and at the moments, he's very cold" Jade explained. "He is incapable of loving me" she added.
"I wouldn't speak too soon" Laurie mentioned, as she poured herself some juice.

Jade arrived home from Laurie's place in the evening and decided she would make some dinner. Her choice of a dish, spaghetti bolognese. She set the pot on top of the stove, and got to cutting, chopping and boiling; an hour later, dinner was ready. She waited for Aiden who was supposed to arrive home in a few hours, at 8pm. She waited past 10 pm but he still wasn't home. She went crazy, thinking about the fact that Aiden could be cheating on her at that moment. Just as she was about to give up and go to bed, he suddenly walks through the door at am.
"Where have you been?" She questioned immediately he walked in.
"Don't worry about where I've been, just focus son yourself" he replied.
"Well I would like to know were you've been" Jade mentioned as he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
"It's none of your business okay!" Aiden told her.
"It is my business Aiden, because I'm your wife" She reminded him.
"Only on paper, you are" Aiden pointed out.
"Are you cheating on me?" She asked.
"So what if I was! Like I said, you are only my wife on PAPER, so it wouldn't matter!" he yelled.
"Why are you doing this to me?" she cried.
"I don't love you, I will never love you, so stop acting like my wife!" he yelled. "Now get the hell out my way!" he pushed aggressively and she landed on the floor. He never looked back at her once, as he made his way up the stairs. Tear filled her eyes but she wouldn't allow them to fall.
She picked herself up and began making her way to her room. It hurt her feelings to seem him talk like that to her but she decided that she wasn't going to think about him, it would only hurt her feelings even more. There, in the bathroom, she took a calming shower and wrapped a towel around her body and another around her hair. Just as she dropped her towel to change, Aiden walked in.
"What are you doing!"she yelled, as she quickly picked up the towel and wrapped it around her body once more.
"I promise, I knocked!" he shouted defensively." You didn't answer" He was just as embarrassed as she was.
"What do you want? she asked.
"I just wanted to apologise about what I said to you earlier" he began. "I'm sorry about what I said to you, I didn't mean it the way it came out" Aiden explained.
"It's okay" Jade replied gripping the towel firmly. "Apology accepted.
"Thanks for dinner by the way" he thanked her as he walked out the room.
"No problem" Jade let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding as soon as he left. His confusing switch of personality, never ceased to amaze her.
