11. The Promise Ring

After I dropped Mandy to her dorm, I went to the best jewelry shop that I know because I need a rare promise ring. I wanted to propose Mandy in front of her friend, I do not think I can let any guy take her when I was not around her. Knowing Andy would always be by her side, it would be a hard thing to keep her as my wife. I just hope that Andy will know his border and I believe Mandy will always be honest to our relation. And so will I.

This promise ring could also be a sign for our future bond which both of us are looking for. I really want her to be my wife even that we have different world. Even that I have not succeeded to reduce my blood sucking ability.

Knowing that Mandy loves blue, I was looking for the rare blue diamond for her promise ring. I know that it is very expensive but my love for her is priceless and I always want the best for her. I choose the six prongs to hold the diamond as the symbol of snake. I am going to tell her the meaning later after tonight's dinner. She needs to know my background so that she can be prepared for our future. I am kind of coward to tell her this big secret. She might leave me but she has all the rights to know the truth of my background.

Soon after buying the ring, I meditate a while to suppress my tension and enlighten a way to reduce my blood sucking power. My age has exceeded 100 years but there are still a lot of things that I do not know that need wisdom and meditation to figure them out. Tension and my blood sucking power had been my biggest issue nowadays. Around six o'clock, I prepared myself to pick Mandy up so I called her first,

"Hello darling, we are still on for our dinner right?"

"Yes of course, I am preparing right now and so does Annie. We are looking forward to meeting you."

"I will see the three of you then."

I picked Mandy, Annie and Andy in front of Mandy's dorm. My Mandy shone as usual. Annie and Andy were pleased to join the dinner. They gave me the look of confused as this was one unique dinner. I can see that both of them love Mandy that they appreciate my welcome to know them as Mandy's closest friend.

I took them to one of my restaurant. My family has been living in this town for centuries that we own almost one third of the town so that we can run some business for our living. It is such an exquisite lake view restaurant that we can feel the nature while enjoying the dinner.

They chose steak for dinner while I chose to be vegetarian as I need to control my tension. I have prepared a dessert for us and one dessert for Mandy has been filled by the promise ring. I hope it can surprise her a lot.

The conversation went well, we know each other better this time. I know how this siblings mean a lot to Mandy. They really want the best for Mandy, they were a bit accusing me for abandoning Mandy back then. It was because of my job that I had to do those lowsy things. But actually I need time to settle down my feeling and prepare our future because snakemen can not have human as their wife.

As the dessert came, I kept my eye on Mandy, waiting to get down on my knee to propose her. As I was on my knee, the three of them was surprised.

"Mandy, I can not wait to make you the love of my life, but I want to wait until you are ready to face our future together. Will you be mine forever?" She was touched and cried a bit but she managed to say yes.

"Oh my God, I did not prepare for this." Annie said and congratulated Mandy while Andy congratulated me.

"Is it true? Am I dreaming? This is just gone too fast." Mandy said and I chuckled.

"I can not wait to have you in my life forever."

"It is a blue diamond. The rare one, wow you are so lucky girl." Annie exclaimed. Mandy blushed and whispered thank you to me. She gave me a passionate kiss.

"It is worth waiting for the best husband." She knew how to make me happy.

We ended our dinner and I asked Mandy to come over to my hotel again as I told her that there are things to be discussed. So we dropped Annie and Andy first.

I was about to tell her my background when she received calls from her parents. I made a mental note to visit them soon as I need to know them too.

"I am going to tell you my biggest dark secret, can you sit down first?" She was startled. This news would make her down, that was why she needed to be prepare.

"What is it? You scared me a lot."

"I am a snakeman. You might not know what that is but I can say that I have the blood of snake in me so that I can live forever and harm you. I do not want to harm you, ever since I knew you, I was confused for our position. The love that I have is so big that I can not resist it."

"I do not know what to say. This eternal life, does it mean you are older than me a lot?"

"Yes, I am 100 years old."

"What? How can you harm me?"

"Snakes are able to suck human's blood. I can control that if I am with you in my awareness. I am truly in love with you." She was shocked.

"We should try to run this lovely love first. Our love should be able to conquer many things." I am so blessed to have this understanding girl.
