"Alright, then please tell me how the developers were able to convince the voice actors to actually say this s**t?" Elizabeth asked after listening to some of the voiced lines in the game.
"If you could get paid a hefty sum for channeling your inner twelve-year-old fanfiction dialogue writer, would you seriously say no?" Angelo chuckled.
"I guess it depends on if I'm required to make weird sounds when I enter into another room."
"I fail to see the downside in that, too." He chuckled again. She winked at him in agreement and went back to playing the game. "Damn, how many people are actually in this game?"
"I believe it's procedurally generated. They'll just keep coming back if you wait long enough."
"I see. Don't you want to play?" She handed over the controls to Angelo who suddenly adopted a very vile grin. "Of course." He said as he took the keyboard and immediately cut a man's leg off with a machete before dousing him in gasoline. "You know what comes next!..."
Elizabeth grinned mischievously. "Go for it."
With the click of a button, a match was thrown, and the man caught on fire immediately. He started crying in agony, as was standard operating procedure for this game. He stayed alive for quite a while. Elizabeth just watched in slight surprised awe as the man on the screen burned. "So, what exactly is the point of this game?"
"Get your errands done." Angelo plainly replied. "Killing is just kind of a side effect or a bonus, something the player just naturally does because they have the option to."
"This game is a lot more realistic than I thought." She muttered.
"Did you say something?"
"No."
The two looked at each other for a moment.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and, as Angelo went to answer the door, Elizabeth looked around the room a bit. When he didn’t come back right away, Elizabeth went to go check on what was taking so long.
“So uh, can I get your number?” She heard the pizza girl ask casually.
“Everything okay out here?” Elizabeth asked as she turned the corner and came into view of the front door. The pizza girl turned her gaze to Elizabeth and her eyes widened.
“Damn, girl-can I get your number?” She said.
Angelo just frowned childishly while Elizabeth bit her lip and said "Maybe next time", before giving her a good tip and sending her back to where she came from. She turned to look at Angelo. “Awww, what’s the matter? A little c**k-tease got you all butt-hurt?”
He shrugged her off. “No. Its nothing. f**k off.” he grumbled. Elizabeth sighed and Angelo took the pizza box into the other room.
“So...how do you suppose we do this?” Elizabeth asked, taking a bite from the pointy end of a slice of pizza, filling her mouth with heat, sauce and cheese.
“Well,” Angelo began, closing the game’s window and pulling up the security footage. “We need to get you in and out of the hospital without any alarms going off, anyone seeing you take and hide anything or anyone noticing you leaving with whatever you're wanting to take.”
