“Woah! I mean it's a good thing, isn't it?" Ella asked, because I didn't look happy about it.
“I don't remember all the details, but I'm sure I met him at the party, and we had s*x," all the color drained from my voice as I finished speaking.
“Damnnnn Zara, you're so bad!” Katelyn said while laughing.
“It's not funny, I mean, is that the reason he gave me the job? Does he remember what happened? Oh s**t, I'm so screwed. I can't reject the job, I really need it," I walked around in circles while my hand shook and my voice cracked.
“Hey, calm down. When are you starting?" Ella asked.
“Tomorrow, which is Monday," I replied.
“I say you take the job Zara. I mean, whether that's the reason or not, you still get the job, and it's just a stupid one-night stand. I'm sure he doesn't remember. He probably had s*x with different women," Catelyn said.
“I mean she does have a point though. The job is more important, so just chill and relax, Zee,” Ella backed up on what Katelyn said, and I guessed they were right.
"I guess you guys are right. I love you guys so much, I should give them a reply ASAP.”
"You need to stop shouting like that over little things. You almost gave me a heart attack," Ella said, then walked back into the kitchen with Katelyn.
“Sorry!” I shouted and later decided to join them in the kitchen.
They were making waffles and bacon with scrambled eggs. I asked them where Zoey was. It turns out she got sick from all the alcohol and vomited as well, so she's at home resting.
We ate and talked about last night. I laughed a lot because I know I do a lot of shitty things when I'm drunk.
It was getting pretty late, so I decided to head home, so I said goodbye to them. I took a cab home, I went in, and my family were having dinner.
“Hey! How are you? Are you hungry? How was your time with Ella? My mom bombarded me with questions.
"It was fine, I'm not hungry. I ate before I left. I have good news…. I got the job,” I said.
My sister hugged me tightly and congratulated me, same as my dad. My brother and I have our differences, but he was still happy for me but felt ashamed, I guess.
My Mom wasn't happy, but I couldn't care less. I went upstairs, just jumped on my bed and thought for a while.
I did it, I really did.
I went to the bathroom, had my bath, brushed my teeth, then changed into something more comfortable. I realized I had worn Ella's clothes to come home and mine were at Katelyn’s place, but I will get them later.
I set my alarm and prayed I wouldn't screw up on my first day at work.
My alarm went off the next morning and I lazily got up and took my bath, thought about dressing a bit casually: a blue off-shoulder body con gown, high heels, light jewelry. I did my makeup and carried a black bag to match my heels.
I rushed downstairs, greeted everyone and I sat down for breakfast, which was toasted bread and hot chocolate. After eating, they wished me luck for my first day and I headed out.
I took a cab and on getting to the building I felt a bit emotional because I didn't think I would be back here again.
I walked in and over to the receptionist, and she wore those sweet smiles again.
“Good morning, I'm the newly employed secretary, and I am to resume work today," I said to her.
“Miss Zara, I've been expecting you. I believe you remember where you went to for your interview. That's the CEO of this company, and you were assigned to be his secretary, so follow me and I will show you to your office," she said.
“Thank you," I followed her as we walked into the elevator and went to the 8th floor like last time.
“You look lovely," she said.
“Thank you.”
We reached the floor and stepped out. The boss's office was to the right and mine was to the left.
Before we went in, she said the boss wanted to see me before anything else.
She knocked on the door and a husky voice responded from within,“ Come in."
We went in, and she said,“ Good morning sir, the new secretary is here.”
“You may leave,” he said.
His voice sent chills down my spine, flashbacks from that night just came flooding through my mind.
I felt nervous being alone with him. I just hope he doesn't remember what happened that day.
“Good morning sir, I'm so glad you offered me this job. I won't disappoint you, sir,” I said to him to give a good first-day impression.
He stood up from his seat, walked over to me, stared into my eyes and I remembered those eyes and that face from that night.
“I'll send you some files,” he said. “Review them for the board meeting. Send them to IT when you're done. Everything you need is in your office. I'll see you soon.”
"Alright sir,” I said and turned to leave.
"Call me Liam,” I said.
"I can't be too formal sir,” I replied.
"Mr Liam in front of people and Liam when it's just us. No further arguments, now get to work, Zara,” he said, with no room to argue.
I just nodded my head and I reached for the door.
“And, Zara?"
“Yes sir?"
“No drinking on the job," he smirked.
