Chapter 3

I burst out laughing and said to him,"You and I know that's a lie. No company or anyone in their right senses will want to hire someone who has barely even finished school.” “That's enough Zara!” My mother yelled. “I believe you Josh. I'm sure it went well. Don't listen to your sister now, go freshen up so you can eat," she comforted him while I scoffed. “Gina, you too, go freshen up and come help me set the tables. Zina, come help me finish up in the kitchen,” mum said to us, so I joined her in the kitchen while my siblings went inside. Mom made pasta and meatballs. I dished out the food while she cleaned the kitchen. Gina came out and helped set the table, then I served the food. I went to call dad then helped him downstairs for dinner. We all ate our food and talked about each other's days while mum still pushed for me to get married and quit my job hunting. She believed my brother would find a job soon and take care of all the responsibility at home. I didn't want to argue with her any longer because I was exhausted, so I just ate silently then cleared the table with my sister before I went to my room to sleep. I took out my phone and checked my email. They haven't gotten back to me yet. I really was feeling anxious. I went to our group chat and went through their messages while I wasn't online. Katelyn has a crush in her office. Ella plans to get married soon and move in with her boyfriend and Zoe— still the same old Zoe. I laughed while going through the chat, and I was really happy for Ella and couldn't wait for Ella's big day. She deserves someone that would treat her well, and she's really hardworking, so I hope she will always be happy. I chatted with them a little and didn't even realize I slept off. My ringtone buzzed through my ear, I forced myself to wake up and answer the phone. “Good morning to you! Good morning to you! Welcome to Saturday! Today is party day!” Zoe’s loud voice came from the speaker, and it made me fully awake. “Zooey, this is 7am, we don't go to parties this early. Leave me alone to sleep!" I begged through the phone. I heard Katelyn and Zoe laughing as to how sleepy and cranky I sounded. “We know, we figured everyone should come over and hang out here. I got us clothes for the party, then we will all head out together. I don't trust Ella, she might ditch us for her boyfriend," Catelyn said. I could understand their fear. Ella would normally ditch us when we planned to do something together, so I agreed and told them I would go to Ella's house and we would come together. “Yipee! See you soon, and please don't fall asleep after we end the call," Zoey said, and we all laughed because it was something I could do. I stood up, checked my email and still nothing from the company. I was a little disappointed, but I still went to take my bath and wore a cute blue crop top and a black ports and white canvas and a black facial cap to match. I took a handbag, then went downstairs and saw just my sister watching a movie and the whole house was quiet, so I wondered if everyone was still asleep, so I asked her,” Morning sis, where's everyone?" “Good morning sis, mom went to the grocery store with Big Bro. Dad is still asleep though. Are you heading out?" she asked. “Yes, I'm going to Ella's house. I will be back tomorrow and make sure you tell mom and dad so they don't worry so much. I will see you later,” I told her. "OK, bye, and you look good sis," she grinned. I laughed and went outside. I took a cab to Ella's house. On the way, I called her to inform her I was coming. I told her Katelyn and Zoey wanted us to come to their place, then from there we would go to the party. She thought it was a good idea and said she would be expecting me. I got to Ella's house, knocked on the door. She opened up in a towel with her hair dripping. "Seriously girl, I would have hugged you, but I wouldn't want to ruin my drip," I said while laughing, and she laughed as well. “OK, miss dripping, let me put on some clothes, then we will head out," she said and hurriedly left, so the floors won't get too wet. I looked around and really wished for my own place as well. Everywhere was neatly arranged and if I hadn't known her I would say she had OCD. She had offered that I come stay with her, but I didn't want to inconvenience her. Besides, I wanted my own personal space. I looked around the house some more and a few minutes later, Ella came out of the room wearing a short black, yellow strapless body con top and white slippers. “You look amazing, now we are both dripping," I complimented, then we laughed. We headed out and took a cab to Katelyn and Zooey's place. We reached their place, knocked on the door, and we heard a loud scream from the door and someone shouting,"They are here! They are here!” Zoey opened the door and let us in. I have never seen her happier. She was the jovial, the youngest and carefree one amongst us all. “Zoey, you are going to scream this house down," Katelyn said before she turned to face us and gave us a hug. I, on the other hand, was famished, so I followed Katelyn to the kitchen to see what she was making. She was making macaroni and cheese, my favorite. We all ate, talked, and then it was party time so we all began to dress up. We went through the clothes Katelyn got for us all, and I saw this wine-off-shoulder body cone gown with a slit by the side. I had a hunch that she specifically picked this out for me because of my wine hair, and I wasn't wrong. “Thank you," I told her. When we arrived at the club, there was a long line. Katelyn got a VIP card so we didn't have to wait. She has her connections, I will give her that. We went to music. C blasted through our ears and I looked around to get started on the shots.
