The Strong One

Episode 16

Diego’s POV

When Oliver told me he would be going back for Alex’s 18th I asked him to allow me to go with him and asked him not to tell her as I wanted it to be a suprisse.

After arriving at Oliver’s gang for my training I waited for Alex to text me back or call but there was nothing.

The experience of being away was amazing, all the things I got to see and do where amazing, during the day I pretended to be fine but when I went back to my room at night I sat staring at my phone hoping she would ring.

I did so much s**t the past 2 years its fantastic, during my free time I hung out with the guys, on contrary to when I was home i didn’t just have one friend, I had a group of friends, guys and girls, girls who where after me and tried to seduce me but I just ignored them, when we all had free time we would do s**t like, jump out of planes, car racing, travelled to any f*****g place when drunk. It was all awesome but while no one was looking I just sat and looked at my phone waiting for a call or text.

I turned down so many freaking girls my friends started thinking I was gay that was until we got supper drunk and I completely broke down.

When we arrived home Oliver and his daughter Ella both went to the Harrison Villa but I decided to make my way to the warehouse and check if my father was there.

After asking around they directed me medical wing which confused me and made me wonder if my father was ok and if not why no one called me.

Arriving there I saw my completely healthy father sitting with Alex’s parents and all of them seemed to be trying to calm down a very hysterical child.

When I looked to the left I saw Oliver and Ella, Oliver looking shocked but I wasn’t sure why, everyone had their backs to me, so they didn’t notice I was there, they were far enough that I couldn’t see their faces but close enough I could hear their voices.

I was so distracted with the crying child that the thought of who could be in the hospital room escaped my mind.

“Baby it’s ok, mummy is going to come out in a minute alright.” I heard Sofia say to the child.

Not long after that a figure that I could recognise anywhere walked out of the room, Alex. She picked up the child and he shut up instantly, she looked around and saw Oliver and saw me and when she did she quickly went inside the room and after a few minutes came out again, leaving the child inside.

While she was talking to Oliver and Ella I started thinking and the words Sofia said to the child hit me, mummy is going to come out in a minute, I felt rage filling me, the reason she didn’t answer my calls or texts was because she got f*****g pregnant, I was dumb enough to wait for her.

Everyone left, leaving me and her alone, that’s when I said it all, I said everything i was feeling, I was stopped in my tracks when she slapped me and said,

“You can say whatever the f**k you want about me but bring my children up and i will f*****g kill you understand.” Then she turned her back on me and closed the door on my face.

I was f*****g sick of all the s**t happening, I left the warehouse, made my way to my fathers house not knowing where else to go, since he was still at the warehouse I used the hidden key beneath the flowerpot to get in.

Everything was the same, not one thing out of place, i made my way to cabinet where the drink is kept in my fathers office, I picked up a vodka and took a big sip and went to sit on his chair, I was just looking around when I noticed a frame, colourful the brightest thing in the entire room, I made my way to it.

The frame was a mess close by the paint was in all the wrong places but when I was looking around I saw the words, for grandpa, in a handwriting very familiar to me, I finally looked at the frame, it was a picture of my father and the Alex’s kid, but that wasn’t all there was another child, a little girl, I put down the vodka and picked up the frame so I could study it closer, I went to sit down.

I looked at the frame intensely, earlier I hadn’t seen the little boy close up as Alex rushed him inside the room in a flash.

Looking at both the children close I noticed how much they looked a like, it’s actually crazy, both had a slight tanned skin, a lot less than Alex but it was there, light brown hair, the little boy with short and the girl with long hair, I was about to set the frame down when something caught my attention, their eyes, their eyes were... their eyes were exactly the same as the ones what stare at me when I look in the mirror.

In shock and confusion I opened my fathers desk drawers and took out his memory and records book which he started the day he met my mother, he would show me it when I was a child and told me about her, I now felt completely sober, I went to the day left and started flicking pages until I got to the one where there was a picture of two babies, newborn babies, I started reading what was wrote down.

I hadn’t seen Alex in 8 months but I always thought she was just upset about Diego going away, that was until I received a call from Tyler telling me to go to the hospital, I was more than shocked when I got there, Alex was lying in middle of the bed holding two little babies, one wrapped in blue and one in pink, when I looked into their eyes it was obvious the reason on why I was called here, Alex asked me not to tell Diego and i promised I wouldn’t even though it hurt me but Alex is a very reasonable girl and she must have a reason even though she won’t tell anyone, even though the babies were born prematurely they were healthy, the doctor told us it was expected since twins normally come earlier this and since their dad was a premature baby too it was expected. Thankfully they are all perfect and I’m so happy I had the chance to meet my grandchildren.

I was shocked, when I saw dad at the medical wing I never thought anything of it and when I saw to grandpa on the frame I just thought it was because he was there for them, but this and the blue and green eyes on those kids make this real.
