"W--what are you doing here?" Rose pushed Robert's body away from the inn room door.
He didn't expect that the man would finally find out where she was hiding. Rose steadied Robert with misgivings, she was worried that the man would force her to take Kenzie from her, this time.
"You hid my son in a place like this?" Robert stared disdainfully at the door behind Rose.
The woman swallowed hard to shake off her guilt and nervousness. She also knew that this inn was far from appropriate for a small child to leave.
"It's only temporary, I'll find a place to live for all of us," she answered firmly with a smug look in her eyes.
"Leave the child to me, Rose, and your burden will be reduced by one."
