Chapter Ten The lake in the middle of the oasis glittered in the afternoon sun, making it seem as if thousands of tiny jewels twinkled from the water. It was hard to properly process how beautiful it was here. Especially with what was effectively a war camp in the middle of all the natural beauty. But this was how it had to be, whether I liked it or not. The gods were moving in on Seth's compound, and this was where they'd chosen to do it from. It made sense in a lot of ways. It was close to the compound, but the trees and greenery made it easy to hide. And, perhaps most importantly, there was enough water and shade to help us all survive the heat of the day without complaining too much.
