Chapter 3

ANITA’S POV The slight beeping sound of the monitor pierces through my head as I slowly open my eyes to get accustomed to the place I was. My head felt heavy and so did every part of my body as I struggled to move. A groan escapes my lips as the bright light threatens to blind me. I weakly turn my head to the side to reduce the impact. Where am I ? A hospital? Or some asylum? Everywhere is annoyingly white and bright, causing me to have a headache. I try to stand but an unfamiliar hand stops me and I freeze as my eyes comes in contact with the figure in front of me. A slightly scary looking, handsome man stands beside the bed, in a three piece tailored suit, his tattoos peaking out if his shirt at the edge of his college and his wrists. His hair stood in spikes like he had pulled at it multiple times, and the stress lines under his blue eyes did nothing to hide how exhausted he obviously was His generic features complimenting every part of his build as his stance held power and wealth. I frown and shift slightly as I events of the last time my eyes were open come rushing back. A figure had stood above me right before I blacked out. My eyes widen as I try to create a distance between us. “W…who are you?” I frown and a sigh of relief escapes his mouth almost immediately. “Oh thank the heavens! You awake! Oh thank God!” He rants as he paces back and forth in the room, making me squint my eyes as I looked at him. He walks back to me as he scrambles around. “Don’t move, the doctor said to give you water when you woke up” He recounts as he rushes towards the table at the foot of my bed This has to be the first time I am seeing someone’s actions not matching his look. Was he scared or something? He rushes back to me with a cup of water, helping me drink it as he places his hand under my head “Thank you” I mutter and he shakes his head. “No thank you for staying alive” He states placing the cup back as he takes his seat “I still don’t know who you are” I mutter as I lay back on the bed. “I’m Alexander” He responds “Alexander Prescott” He adds and I nod. “Anita Wilson” I respond and he nods as an awkward silence passes between us. “What happened?” I ask trying to seat but he holds me back. “No, you can’t get up yet, until the doctor gets back” He instructs and I nod. He adjusts his stance on his seat slowly beginning to act like he looks and I squint my eyes. “Oh about your question…I hit you with my car, three days ago” He mutters, rather remorseful if I might add. “What?” My eyes widen “It’s been three days?!!” I raise my voice and a headache jolts through my head making me groan loudly. “You shouldn’t put so much stress on yourself” He states and a comfortable silence passes between us for a while. “Why were you out there all by yourself that night? It was stormy and cold, you could have died or something” He asks, also scolding and I sigh. “I…uh…” I stutter. “It’s alright, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to” He adds and I shake my head. “My husband cheated on me a few weeks ago. It was a really bad day for me because he insulted and berated me and I got a divorce on the same day. He sent me out of the house after I signed the divorce papers so I had to go back to my Uncle’s place. That was were my Mom and siblings were. We had to stay there after my Dad died and we lost all we had to pay of my father’s death. But all of a sudden three days ago, he threw my things out of the house for no reason. He didn’t say why he wanted me out of his house. In two weeks and a few days, I had lost the most important things to me” I recount just staring at the ceiling and feeling a little lost. “Wow” He blurts as he shakes his head “That’s cruel. What your husband did to you” He adds and I shrugs. “Well, Jason Davis is a man full of surprises” I mutter and he stays he quiet. Probably trying to wrap his head around what I just told him. I don’t blame him though, I still can’t wrap my head around it too “What if…” He begins breaking the silence “What if you had the chance to revenge what your husband did to you…. Would you do it?” He asks raising his brow. “If it means giving that douchebag a taste of his own medicine, I would not mind” I state, unable to control the rage that brews through me that second. “I might have something” He mutters and my head whips to his side “Shoot” I blurt. “So, my mother is a little on neck on bringing a wife home and I seriously don’t want to get into an arranged marriage with some stuck up spoilt rich kid and I was thinking you could help with that” He explains and I frown. “Huh…. I’m lost” I utter and he adjusts his stance on his seat “Fifty days” He states “I need you to be my wife for fifty days. It would be a contract marriage and I could get the whole thing ready by the time you get out of here” He states and I turn my head properly to look at him. “Why?” I frown. “Look, just see it as some sort of convenience. It would be favoring us both, you get to have your revenge on your ex-husband and I get to take my Mom’s eyes off me. At least for now and till all of this is cleared up” He explains and I stay silent. Trying to wrap my head around the terms of whatever this is. All I have to do is sign a contract to be a wife to this man for fifty days? I could get my revenge on Jason. If he can move on, then I can move on to. I would do anything to get my revenge on that douchebag! “Let’s do it Alex”
