The Prophetic Dream

The beach scene around me was beyond beautiful. White sands and cerulean blue sea raced for miles on either side. The Thunder Moon pack beach house loomed behind me, but I knew this was the only structure for miles. I knew this place well. There was a giant beach umbrella setup in the sand with a large blanket spread out with a picnic basket keeping it from blowing away in the warm gentle breeze. The smell of sea salt was interrupted by the scent of sandalwood and hazelnuts. I turned around, and there she was. Aurora smiling brightly with her arms stretched out above her head as she ran down the beach towards me giggling. Her curvy frame was barely covered by a navy-blue two-piece bikini that was gently dusted in tiny silver and gold stars. She was radiating joy. Aurora leaped into my arms and I caught her spinning us both around tightening our embrace. She wrapped her legs around my waist, and when we stopped spinning she sat back a bit with her arms lightly draped around my neck and longingly stared into my eyes before she closed the distance and her soft peach lips crashed into mine.             I felt electricity shoot through my body as the kiss deepened. I nibbled on her bottom lip, and she granted me access within. Our tongues danced together hungrily as she let out a soft moan and grabbed fiercely at my hair urging me closer. I stumbled backwards, catching myself, and then gently lowering us to the blanket under the umbrella without ever stopping our kiss. In the shade it was cooler, but that didn’t matter as things between us began to heat up. Aurora was straddling me, and I could feel her plump lips through the thin fabrics of our swimsuits. My p***s began to harden as she slowly rocked her hips causing me to moan deeply into our kiss. One of my hands was intertwined in Aurora’s hair as the other gripped her right ass cheek hard urging her move faster. Aurora quickened her pace and I could smell her s*x ripen with pleasure. I knew she was close as she wriggled on top of me with only the two pieces of thin fabric in between us. The friction was maddening, and I could feel myself coming close to the edge.     As Aurora began to climax on top of me she let out loud shrieks of pleasure. Dark clouds rolled in suddenly and I could smell electricity in the air. I quickly flipped her around to the ground shielding her body with mine as a large bolt of lightning struck the sand in front of us. Aurora screamed as hot sand sprayed over my back and legs. I looked down at her and she was terrified, but safe. A loud clap of thunder roared in the sky as the dark clouds raced away revealing the clear night sky. The stars sparkled brightly, and the moon stood where the sun had mere moments before. I rolled off of Aurora gently and helped her get up. We stared at the sudden scenery change before us. The Aquila Constellation shone brightly in the sky above. Aurora began to approach the charred sand where the lightning had struck.     “Aurora don’t” I called out “The sand is still going to be hot” but that didn’t stop her from reaching down into the sand with her bare hands.     I ran up to her as Aurora turned to me to show off the freshly made sea glass with a giant smile. The glass structure was floating in her hands and it was shaped like an eagle. The glass eagle was a swirl of white, blue, and green proudly spreading its wings in flight.     “Aquila sends her message.” Aurora broke our silence “We are fated to be as one, Zane. It is only a matter of time, but there is something horrible at play trying to keep us apart. A dark source wanting to drain my power for their own gain. Only you can save me.”     “What are you talking about, Aurora?”     I took a step closer to her reaching out my hand to touch her arm, but she took a step backwards. Suddenly, the glass eagle began to suck the light out of everything around us like a black hole within Aurora’s hands. I yelled out for her as I watched her engulfed in the darkness before everything went completely black.     I woke up with the scent of sea salt, sandalwood, and hazelnut fading from my senses. I was drenched in sweat, and my boxers were sticky from pre-c*m. It was only a dream, but it felt so real, and my heart ached from watching Aurora be sucked into the dark vortex. Maybe my heart ached from seeing her the night before and not allowing myself near her? I let out a heavy sigh remembering the night before, threw the blanket off of me, and jumped out of bed. I stripped off my boxers while I walked to the bathroom to start my shower. I felt gross and part of it was from the nasty hangover buzzing in my head. After my shower I towel dried off and got dressed before slowly making my way down to the kitchen with the towel still wrapped around my neck as I mindlessly scrubbed it at my damp hair.     “So nice to see you, son.” My father was perched at the kitchen island with his tablet in hand reading the New York Times. “I heard you had quite the busy night at The Lunar Star last night.”     “Yeah, there was an unruly man who assaulted a woman, but it was nothing that the security team couldn’t handle.” I said taking a seat at the opposite side of the island while Alonso placed my breakfast in front of me. Two eggs over medium, a stack of Belgium waffles, syrup, and six breakfast sausage links with a glass of orange juice. Alonso was trying to lessen the blow of my father being present.     “Oh really?” my father then turned to me holding his tablet out to me “Then care to explain this?”     On the tablet was the security feed from the office where we interrogated Derek. I watched as I angrily ripped the back of the chair clean off and threw it across the room effortlessly. My father flipped the tablet around so he could touch the screen and turn up the volume. He turned it to me again as he pressed play.     “If I ever catch you near Aurora again, I will kill you. Is that clear?” I could hear my voice, clear as day, come through the speakers.     “s**t dude.” Titan cursed through my thoughts “I didn’t know those cameras had mics that good!”     “Neither did I, Titan… fuck.” I responded mentally.   “Do you care to tell me who this Aurora is?” My father locked eyes with me angrily “and why did you think it was a good idea to show off your supernatural strength to a mere human like that?” he was using his alpha voice which made Alonso jump and quickly exit the kitchen.     I examined my father, Lucious Driscoll, before answering. There was no doubting he was my father. We were nearly identical with the same skin complexion, build, and hair color, but his eyes were blue, mine were green, and I was a good two inches taller than him. He was dressed in an expensive black suit with a classic white button up underneath. He didn’t wear a tie instead the top couple of buttons were undone exposing his chest hair underneath like this was the 80’s. He had a thick Cuban link chain dangling from his neck, and a flashy gold Rolex watch on his right wrist. This man held no expense to look his best. He looked to be in his late 30’s despite actually being 46.     “There is no excuse for what happened.” I quickly explained.     “Who is Aurora?” my father growled impatiently.     “The woman he assaulted.” I said absentmindedly, pouring syrup on the Belgium waffles and taking a bite.     My father was clicking away at the tablet again. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him pinch the screen to zoom in on something, and then flipped the tablet around to face me again. I didn’t bother to turn my head, and just side glanced at the screen. There she was. Aurora standing in the doorway right before she escaped into the night. I hoped my father couldn’t see through my poker face and couldn’t hear my heart racing at the sight of her beauty.     “Is this her, son?” he sighed “I’m getting impatient. This is a human. Why in the world would a human make my son react this way? How drunk were you? You have to think of the welfare of our pack, and they cannot have their future Alpha behaving this way! I spoke to the staff and they told me you even personally covered her tab after she dined and dashed. Really! What were you thinking, Zane?!”     “I felt bad for her,” I conceded. “She had just been attacked by that man, and she was scared, so she ran. I want all of our guests to feel safe in our club. It’s bad for business otherwise.”     It was a half-truth. I did feel bad for Aurora, but the whole truth was she was my mate, and the mate bond caused Titus to come out. I was lucky the camera was pointed at my back; otherwise, my father would have seen my eyes morph into Titus’ glowing teal eyes. I knew Derek saw them, but I couldn’t hold Titus back any longer at that moment. Derek was a threat to my mate, and sometimes that mate bond makes us act irrationally.     “Make sure it doesn’t happen again.” My father stood to leave “Is that clear, Zane?”     “Yes, Alpha.”     With that my father exited leaving me alone in the kitchen. I began to think about the dream I had. Aquila was the God Zeus’ loyal eagle companion who did his bidding and brought down his lightning bolts upon the Titans in time of war. The eagle’s lore was a big component of the Thunder Moon’s mythos as many believed that our pack was just as old as the bird itself. Many of the pack members sported electric eagle tattoos, or jewelry of eagles carrying thunderbolts. As the Thunder Moon pack, we are what comes after the initial strike of lightning, we are the roar behind the power. We take pride in backing up the light with a godly force of strength and commitment. The Thunder Moon pack is very loyal and just in its ways.     Why then, was Aquila in my dream, and what power did Aurora hold? My phone buzzed. It was a text from Ronnie containing the photos of Derek’s arm from the night before. It looked like his flesh had been struck by lightning. Could this be what my dream was trying to tell me, or could my dream have been influenced by this incident? I zoomed in on the photos to take a better look. You could see fingerprints burned into the flesh where Aurora’s hand had tried to free herself from his grip. From those points the burn marks radiated up his arm in arcs running this way and that following his veins. I was certain then that Aurora didn’t use a taser to do this. Did that mean that she wasn’t human after all?     “What are you looking at?” Lenora asked, looking down at the phone from behind my back.     “Don’t scare me like that!” I sighed to steady myself “Here look at this, what do you think it is?”     “Hmm…” Lenora grabbed the phone to get a closer look “Looks like they got struck by lightning! Woah, did they survive?”     “Unfortunately,” I growled, “and it wasn’t lightning that did that.”     “Well then what did?” she c****d her head to one side as she pinched the phone screen to zoom in more “Even the strongest taser couldn’t do this amount of damage. Was it a cattle prod, or an electricity accident?”     “No,” I sighed. “It wasn’t done by any of that, but we’re not sure what it was.”     “I told you,” Nona spoke and made us both jump “something spectacular was going to happen last night. How was she? Was she beautiful?” my grandmother smiled as she joined us in the kitchen.     “Who is Nona talking about, Zane?” Lenora looked at me confused.     “Nona,” I ignored Lenora. “What exactly did you see in your premonition?” I closed the distance between us and took her hands in mine.     “Your mate, Zane.” She beamed staring up into my eyes intently “You met your mate last night!”     “His MATE?!” Lenora exclaimed rushing over to our grandmother’s side “Zane! How come you didn’t say anything about meeting your mate? Is this true? Is Nona right?”     “Ugh,” I dropped Nona’s hands, turned my back to them, and pinched the bridge of my nose while clenching my eyes shut. “Yes, Lenora, Nona is right. I met my mate, but…”             “Oh! That is SO exciting, Zane!” Lenora cut me off. “When do I get to meet her? I have to meet her first since I’m your baby sister! Come on, what's her name? Why are you being so shy? She’s going to be the Luna of our pack some day! Come on, what's the deal?”             “…but…” I continued, “there’s a problem.” I hung my head. I knew I could trust Lenora and my grandmother, but I was afraid my father would overhear.             “Don’t worry about your father,” Nona said reading my thoughts “He’s already left for the day.”             “She’s human.” I sighed “Or at least I think she’s human. The mark on this man’s arm was done by her, but she didn’t have any devices in her hand when she did it.” I slumped down into one of the island kitchen barstools, rested my elbows on the counter, and cupped my face in my hands.             “Hush, boy” Nona placed a hand on my back and gently rubbed it as Lenora rustled my hair. “She may appear human, but I promise you she is not. She is the future Oracle of this pack.”             “What?!” Lenora gasped “What about you, Nona? You’re our pack Oracle!”             “Now, now” Nona cooed. “I can’t be the Thunder Moon’s Oracle forever, but I’m not going anywhere, so don’t you worry, child.”             I turned to look at my sister and grandmother. My sister was nearly in tears, probably thinking about losing our Nona, and Nona was smiling kindly and knowingly. She wasn’t telling us the whole story, but I didn’t want to upset my sister any further.             “Are you certain?” I asked and my grandmother nodded, “I have to find her then.”             “Why didn’t you just go talk to her when you first saw her dumbass?!” Lenora slapped me on the arm playfully.             “Because,” I sighed, “I thought she was just a human.”             “And?!” my sister demanded incredulously.             “And I’m the future Alpha of the Thunder Moon Pack. What would the others think, what would father think if the future Alpha was mated with a mere human? It would cause our pack to lose credibility, and I would be an embarrassment to the pack!” I barked back. My grandmother suddenly slapped me across the face. I grabbed my cheek in shock and just stared at her in confusion.             “I know your mother raised you better than to be like this.” She growled “There is nothing wrong nor embarrassing with the Alpha being mated with another species. If anything, it is a sign of strength and of needed change. You are a fool for allowing your father to fill your head with such nonsense! That girl is in a lot of trouble, and she doesn’t even know it! You’re the only one who can protect her, Zane. Don’t let the Moon Goddess down, this is the task she has laid out for you. Find your mate and protect her.” Before I could respond my grandmother angrily shuffled her way out of the kitchen.             “Now you’ve done it” Lenora groaned “You’ve upset Nona. That’s not an easy thing to do. What are you going to do now?” she asked as she snagged a sausage link off of my plate and bit into it.             “I guess I have to figure out how to find her again, and worry about what to tell father after.” I scooted my plate in front of Lenora and she began to eat my food.             “Yeah,” Lenora said with a full mouth “Father is not going to be happy about you being mated to a human, or whatever she is. I wonder why Nona was being so cryptic.”             “I’m not sure. It’s obvious she knows more than she’s letting on.” I groaned “If only she had told me more last night before I went to the damn club. She’s like a schoolgirl sometimes I swear. Mom was just like her always knowing, but more excited at the prospect of us figuring it out for ourselves.”             “I miss mom.” Lenora rested the fork on the plate “I know I was only three when she passed away, but I have so many fond memories of her. I just wish she was here. She would know what to tell father, and how to calm him down. He’s been so bitter ever since she died.”             “I miss her too,” I pulled my sister into a hug. “Can you blame father for being so bitter, though? He’s lost his best friend, his lover, his mate. That kind of pain is something that you and I will never fully understand unless it happens to us. If mom was here today she would probably scold me just like Nona did, and then she would have marched right up to father and confronted him. I sometimes wish I had her bravery.” Lenora released herself from the hug to look me in the eyes as a serious look washed over her face.             “You do have her bravery!” Lenora began “You sacrifice every piece of yourself for the sake of this pack. Hell, you were about ready to give up your own mate for the good of this damn pack! You never ask for anything in return, and you always do as Father says. You are one of the most selfless and bravest people I know. You are going to be an amazing Alpha someday.”             “Thank you, Lenora.” I smiled at her.             “Don’t thank me i***t,” she shoved my shoulder. “Now, what is her name?”             “Aurora.” Saying her name aloud sent shivers down my spine. “I must find Aurora.”
