Errl thought it must be his fault his golden girl ran away. I must have been clumsy or rude. She would have stayed if he"d been stronger, kinder, more like the Bigfoot she knew. His sense of direction was poor, but he knew the trapper"s cabin was close. He was tired and hungry again. The trapper would have food and a cot in his cabin. If he waited, he was sure the Bigfoot girl would come back. She"s too good for me, anyway. He sniffed the air. Was that peppermint and fruit he smelled, and something sweet? He followed his nose to the clearing he knew well. Joe Locke and his son weren"t there, but they were his friends, weren"t they? They would say, Errl, help yourself to our food and blankets.
