The white moon set before morning. Errl and Hunny slept on separate piles of blankets on the cabin floor. They woke eager to meet the day. As the sun peeked over the treetops, Errl made pictures with a pencil in a notebook to show Hunny the position of the moon and where Joe had told him the space ship would return. He pointed to the chronometer on his arm and showed where six chronos would be. He jumped up and down with excitement.
“So glad to have you back.”
“Me too, Errl.” She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and ducked her head into her shoulder. She thumped him on one huge bicep.
“How you get away from the nasty humans, Hunny Bear? You said you bent the bars when the sheriff fell asleep. Is that all? Will big black Bigfoot fool the hunters, too? Are they that stupid?”
