Errl seemed doomed not to sleep well on this planet. He woke up two or three hours later. The house was dark. A bit of light spilled through a small window in the basement. He hunched under the quilt the trapper gave him. He was cold. He could hear engines running up and down the street outside and men"s voices were loud, likely hunting him. Will they find me here? Where is the kind man and his son? I"m alone in this big dark room. I hear noises in the night. They think I"m dangerous. Am I safe? He was not safe. He knew he was not safe. He felt the chronometer on his wrist in the dark. His eyes were quite good in the dark. It was long past six chronos. The rescue airpod had come and gone without him. He set the chronometer to count the Earth days. Eight more days. This was the second day
