There I was, staring at the pen and paper that I was to use to write the letter to Lucas.
“Aren’t you going to start writing?” Selene asked.
The only thing on my mind while I tried to write was how much Lucas had hurt me.
I hadn't seen Lucas in nearly eight years. We were still young, mindless teenagers back then. We were very much in love too, at least that was what I thought.
One fateful night, then, Lucas told me he wanted to speak to me. I thought it was just to hang out with each other, but unknown to me, Lucas had other plans. We got to our usual spot at Westwood’s Park and I first noticed something was different about him when he didn’t give me the usual kiss on the cheek he always gave whenever we met up.
I decided to act like I didn’t notice that, after all, I was with my mate and that was all that mattered. He was trembling when I asked about what he wanted us to discuss. I asked him what was wrong when he began acting strangely. The biggest surprise of all came when my intended mate informed me that he had to decline my request to be his mate due to circumstances that only he knew. I had been concerned that perhaps he had a problem.
In his words, “Aurora, I’m not interested in being your mate anymore. I’m sorry, but I have to reject you.”
It was as if my world came crashing down when he said those words to me. I asked him what those reasons that were best known to him were but he told me that I didn’t need to know. He begged me to understand his decision, but all that was on my mind was how I gave him my virginity two days before.
“Was it because I had allowed him to sleep with me before we got married? Was that why he rejected me?” I began to ask myself. I couldn't even speak due to surprise and heartbreak. I had to control the tears that were welling up in my eyes while I kept on begging him not to leave me.
All my pleas were to no avail, since Lucas went ahead to shatter our bond, sever our connection, and left.
There I was standing all alone by the bench at the park, crying profusely. It was then I decided to leave Westwood because I had nothing else left for me in the town. My parents had died a few years back and I was used to being alone not until Lucas showed up and now he had left me to be alone once again.
With tears in my eyes, I said my last goodbyes to Westwood while boarding a bus to New York. That was the last I heard from Lucas and Westwood. Although I kept in touch with Selene, I asked her not to tell me anything relating to Westwood and Lucas. It was about a month after I found out I was pregnant, expecting triplets for Lucas.
I contemplated telling him about it but it seemed like he wasn’t interested in hearing from me, since he didn’t bother to look for me after that night. So, I decided to raise my triplets by myself. Everything was perfect over the years. I was able to keep my children away from werewolves and their drama, and life was good not until my kids were kidn*pped and now, I had to reach out to Lucas.
I had to get this letter written quickly; I can't linger in the past any longer. The longer I wait, the more my kids are in danger.
With trembling hands, I poured my heart onto the paper. As I started to write, I mustered the courage to break the news that I was pregnant by him when I left Westwood and I delivered triplets.
I mentioned their names; Maya, Eli, and Aaron. I told him about how beautiful they were. I also told him that I only wanted to protect them, which was why I didn’t inform him or anyone in Westwood except Selene about the kids.
I told him that I understood what I did was wrong but I had to do it to protect them. I eventually broke the news that the triplets were kidn*pped from my home while they were playing outside.
After narrating how the triplets were abducted, I appealed to him to please help me to find them with his connections as Alpha. I mentioned how I wouldn’t be able to live if anything were to happen to my babies.
Tears began to stain the paper while I was concluding the letter. I appealed to him to put aside our differences for the sake of the children and work together to find them.
“Here you go,” I said while handing over the letter to Selene.
“Please make sure it gets to him personally, Selene, this is my only option. The police in New York have proven themselves to be useless, so I’m left with Lucas.”
“I will, my friend, trust me on this,” Selene said to me with her reassuring smile.
It was time for Selene to go back to Westwood, so I escorted her to the bus stop. She asked me if I would be okay being alone and I told her that all that was on my mind was that letter getting to Lucas.
She promised me one more time that she was going to deliver the letter immediately after she got to Westwood. We hug each other one last time and Selene gets on the bus.
After getting home, all I did was look at my phone for any call from Selene.
“I really hope Lucas puts our past behind us and helps me out”. I thought to myself while I dozed off on my bed.
I got up to see who was calling when my phone started to beep. There was a text message from Selene. I began to panic, wondering why she didn’t just call. Why did she send a text?
That was how I panicked till I finally read the text.
