Chapter 2

|Sofia|     "So, how was your first day?" my best friend asked as I closed the door behind me. I let out a deep sigh and throw my bag and myself on the sofa bed. I closed my eyes as I massaged my temple.   "Stressful as always," I said. I don't know why but I feel so spent right now. All I have done the whole morning and afternoon was to process the documents he needed, arranges some important data and scheduled his upcoming meetings.   "So, was it fun to be a private secretary?" she teased as she sat beside me. I rolled my eyes because of that. Tsss. She seems to be in a mood tonight. I looked at the clock, it’s almost quarter to nine.   "So, was it fun to be in your position right now and you aren't the person whom you want to be?" I teased back. I heard her scoff and then reached for the side of my stomach to pinch it. I jolted because of that.   "Hey!" I said and glared at her. She's glaring back at me but I only sneered at her. It's always been a big issue to her whenever I open that chef-topic. I let out a deep sigh and sat straight to join her in watching the TV.   "So, what? How was the first day! Tell me please," she said as she shakes me from my seat like she's eager to hear my boring story. I looked at her and saw how she pouted in front of me.   "Yuck, stop pouting," I said which made her scoffed again at me. She pinched me again and this time, it was my arm which made me groaned in pain.   "Ouch! You're abusing me!" I complained but she only stuck her tongue to me. I groaned in annoyance.   "If you just told me what happened on your first day I won't annoy you," she said in a matter of fact.   I let out an exasperating sigh and leaned back on the sofa. I closed my eyes and bit my lower lip when I remembered what I've witnessed earlier. Oh geez!   "Wait, wait, wait!" she exclaimed. I felt how the sofa moved which made me looked at her. But I regretted what I've done when I saw the glee in her eyes.   "Why are you blushing?!" she teased.   I immediately looked away.   "It's nothing," I said.   "Tsss. You’re not a very good liar, Sofia, just tell me already!"   I sighed and faced her. Goodness, she is so persistent! And I know she wouldn't stop pestering me if I will not tell her this right now!   I let out a deep sigh again before I told her everything, as in everything from how met Nick before I go to work up to the stressful work the President had given me. Goodness, I even told I love my work but I keep on complaining about it. Really, Sof?   "Omygosh! Omygosh!" she screamed as she fanned herself with her own hands. She even hits me with the pillow she is holding. Goodness, this is it.   "Can you please stop hitting me?! Goodness, you're so brutal!" I snarled annoyingly. But it seems she doesn't hear a thing from me and keeps on hitting me with the throw pillow. Oh geez! "Ohmygosh Sof! So what else did you see? Care to share it!" she excitedly asked again.   "What kind of question is that?!" I gaped at her. Gosh! I wished I didn't have told her about it! It's because... I stopped and bit my lower lip. Just because! Argh.   "What? Is there something wrong about it? Tell me!" she forced. "Wait, is it thick and long? Oh! Maybe you could estimate how long and thick it is since you're good at that!" she laughed wholeheartedly.   I groaned in frustration because of her much-unfiltered mouth. I can't help but feel ashamed for her. If we had our parents here, I'm sure she's prim and proper, so far from this side of her right now. She'll transform from being the naughty daughter into the almost saint one. Note please, almost!   "Stop asking about it, Ella!" I complained. This topic is making me uncomfortable!   "Why? Naturally, I would ask!" she excused.   "Whatever! Why are you so interested?" I asked and direct my attention toward the television. But I can't seem to comprehend what the actor is saying because that scene I had witnessed keeps playing in my mind! Argh! This is all Ella's fault! If she hadn't asked me about it, I would have already forgotten about that easily!   "Duh? Who wouldn't! We're talking about Mr. President, aka, Ian Crimson Mayordragon? The only billionaire bachelor in the industry! Goodness, you're so lucky that you've been appointed as his private secretary! I'm so proud of you, Sofia! And come to think of it, you've seen the most precious thing between his knee--Ouchie!"   I put my hands on her mouth before she could even finish what she has to say. I widen my eyes on her. "Will you stop it, Ella?! You know I am very uncomfortable when it comes to this!" I protest.   She took away my hands from her mouth and barks into laughter.   "Geez! Af if you're that innocent! I know you're watching--"   "Yeah. Yeah. So stop it already," I interrupted which made her laugh for more. She's really good at annoying people but if I am the one who's annoying her, she's making it like a serious matter?! Unfair right?   "So have you seen it?" She asked again after a couple of minutes. I violently looked at her because of that.   "Of course not!" I quickly answered. I saw how she became disappointed with my answer.   "Ohh. Too bad," she said and murmured something. I rolled my eyes because for sure she doesn't have anything to fantasize anymore.   But suddenly, I remember how the President mocked me because of my physical appearance.   "Tsss. Even though he's so engrossed at his work, he's still arrogant! His attitude is so far from his brother," I said and then his younger brother pops into my mind.   I can't help but smile when I remember his face. Sir Michael, the COO of the company, was my last boss before I was appointed to his older brother, The President. I was only an assistant secretary back then. And he was the one who suggested to appoint me as his brother's secretary since he does know that I can handle someone like him.   "Tsss. You just secretly admired the younger Mayordragon," she scoffed. I pouted because of that. Well, who wouldn't right? I think he's every woman's dream of.   "But you know what Sofia?" she said as she gave me her full attention. "I think the President is right regarding your looks," she continued. My brow shot up because of that.   "Really?" I said in disbelief. Goodness, she's my friend and she's degrading me!   She then took my glasses off at me and brutally reached for the ponytail at the back of my head. I groaned in pain because I had tied my hair as tight as I can so it would look neat and pleasant!   "Ouch!" as she pulled the tie off to my hair.   "Why do you keep wearing glasses when you can have contacts? And my gosh, I really hate your tight ponytail, you're looking like an old hag somewhere from the past," she mocked like she doesn't care if I am hurt or not.   I rolled my eyes to her and reached for the glasses and the tie she took from me.   "Why do you keep on minding my looks? It doesn't even bother you," I said, sneering at her. I wear my glasses again and was about to tie my hair but she snatched both away!   "Whatever! Why don't you show off this beauty of yours? This isn't for hiding!" she said and as she put in on the table and faced me back. "You can even seduce the president with that look of yours and maybe you two can have a nig--"   "ELLA!" I interrupted before she could even finish her sentence. She laughed because of that. I rolled my eyes and reached for my glasses and tie on the table.   "I don't need to be pretty and cute," I said as I scooped my hair and tie it in a bun, leaving some of my baby hairs. "I looked like a child," I continued.   "Don't you like it? Forever young," she teased. And all I could do is to scowl at her remarks. Goodness!   ***   "What time you'll gonna be home tonight?" I asked my best friend as we both entered the company. She hurriedly went inside the building as she finds something inside her bag.   "I don't know, I have a presentation later this afternoon," she said. I nodded and we both head toward the lift.   Good thing it's not yet full so we were able to get inside. We did a short goodbye's to each other when she arrived at her floor first. She even teased me regarding my late work later and she's lucky enough that there are many people around that I can't even get my little revenge.   I arrived at my assigned floor and head towards my temporary cubicle since my working space inside the President's office is not yet done. I think probably tomorrow I can start working there.   I started my work when I immediately take my seat on my office chair. Answering emails and calls, separating some data and some office work.   But after working for hours, I suddenly noticed that the financial department, where I am currently based, fell into silence for a second. I frowned and looked around, only to saw Mr. President from the glass wall, walking on the hallways. My brow shot up when I saw him wearing shades, with some of his bodyguards that surrounds him.   Then one of his bodyguards went inside which made someone in the room gasped. I blinked as I looked at his bodyguard walking towards my cubicle, then my eyes flew to Mr. President. I saw him looking at me, but I can't tell if he's really looking at me because of the shades he's wearing.   "You are called by the President," the man in black said when he arrived in front of me. I quickly nodded and looked back to Mr. President but only to find he's not already there. Maybe he went up in his office.   I went out of my cubicle, carrying some important documents and planner with me. I could feel how most of the girls inside looked at me like I did something crazy but I ignored it and immediately went out of the department. I stride the distance between me and the lift and went inside. I quickly pressed the 45 and after a few seconds, I arrived at his office.   I let out a deep sigh before heading towards his office door and pressed the intercom to notify my arrival.   "Mr. President," I said and I heard him answered 'come in'. I closed my eyes and heaved a deep sigh for about a second time. I unconsciously bit my lower lip. It's been a week since I've witnessed that live show. Oh geez, stop thinking about it, Sofia!   I opened the sliding door and went inside. And as usual, his almost dim office greeted me. The heavy and thick curtains occupy the proximity of the glass wall.   That's where I've confirmed the rumors about him being allergic to the sunlight. I didn't know it's even possible. But well, anything is possible this day.   "Daily reports," he said when I arrived in front of him, only his office table separating us. He's slouching in his seat as he massaged his temple. That was he always does whenever he's feeling dizzy, if it's because of his stressful work or if he just walked under the sun, well with his UV umbrella of course. But I think the reason why he's in this condition is because of the latter.   I quickly read the report he needed and reviewed some of his schedules to remind him. When I'm done, he nodded as he let out a deep sigh. He gave me some reminder and works as he attends one of his meetings. I quickly nodded before he dismissed me and start my work.   It was lunchtime when I've finished everything. And all I need to the last one he wanted me to do was his confirmation about it. Mr. President just finished his meeting and I immediately went to his office to give the documents he needed.   "Sir, regarding the request of the AC Comforts for the textiles they delivered," I said and showed him some data. He quickly told me about what to do with it.   He stood from his seat and quickly went out of his office. I followed him until all of us six, him and me and including his bodyguards ride on his private elevator.   We all heard the ding sound and went out of the lift. I saw how some of the employees on the ground floor stopped when the President started to walk in the middle of the lobby area. I sighed and saw how all of the women admired the President and some of the men cannot even look at him.   I saw one of his bodyguards on the exit holding a black umbrella. Until now, I'm still not used to how allergic he is, to the sunlight. It seems like he is a king of the jungle and everyone knows what his weakness is, but no one could ever use it against him.   "Finished everything, and just send me the data," he said when he stopped in front of his heavily tinted car.   "Yes sir," I said and nodded at him. He looked down on me and slightly took off his shades to look at me. I blinked because of that, especially when our eyes meet.   "Do you really have eye defects?"   "Sir?"   "Could you use contacts instead of eyeglasses? I don't know why but it annoys the hell out of me," he suddenly remarks.   I can't help but scoff secretly because of that. Why would I do that? He doesn’t own the world to dictate everyone about his likes and dislikes!   I fraudulently grin at him. "Sorry sir but I'm aware that contacts don't suit at me,"   He didn't answer me and went inside of his car. Then after a few seconds, it drove away in front of me, and all that I can do was to follow it until it lost in the sea of vehicles.   I rolled my eyes as I pursed my lips. Why is he even concerned about my looks? Tsss.
