Chapter 20

957 Words
Grey had his hand on my knee when we pulled up out the front of his house. I had always imagined Goliath Pack with black, dark buildings, creepy trees, little color - but in fact, it was beautiful. Rows of trees lined the streets, creating a canopy over the road. Stone houses with picket fences and lush green grass. Grey's home was a two-storey red brick house with a long driveway and vast grounds. It was magnificent and a lot to take in. I didn't know what to make of it all. It was so different from anything I had ever known and now I had no family. I didn't even have Aria. "I'll be with you the whole time." Grey soothes, sensing how uncomfortable and nervous I was. We sat silently in the car while I built up the courage to enter the house. I knew Alpha Cain would live in this house too, it being the Alpha household. That was daunting enough. I nod and open the door. Grey heads to the back of the car to fetch a few of the bags we packed in the ten minutes we had to leave the house. I think we got most of my belongings but they aren't in any order - just thrown into whatever bag they would fit. Leaving the boot open to come back and get the rest later, Grye takes me by the hand and leads me towards the large front door. I knew he had messaged his father to let him know I was coming so I wouldn't be such a surprise. I still felt very much like a burden. To be honest, I was quite scared of Alpha Cain. I had only ever been told about how horrible and cranky he was. "Welcome Willow!" Alpha Cain says as he opens the door for us. Grey smiles as his father's warm welcome relaxes my tense muscles. I think I had held my breath the whole walk from the car. I feel dizzy at the sudden intake of oxygen. "Here, let me take those bags." Alpha Cain says to Grey, "You show your mate around our home and I'll get the stuff from the car." He seems genuinely excited about my arrival. Grey leads me through the house. He gave me a tour of the upstairs first, showing me his room, then begins the tour of the downstairs. We are greeted by a few people I recognize from school in the lounge room. Jonah comes forward, wrapping me up in a big bear hug. I see Grey stiffen beside me but Jonah laughs it off. # "Welcome to the pack Willow!" Jonah smiles and waves his arm around the room. A pair of cold eyes catch my attention from the side of the room. There is Juliet. Sitting on the couch looking as if the devil has walked into the lounge room. "Are you going to introduce us Grey?" A red-haired girl calls out from her spot on the floor. Everyone was lounging around watching a movie when we walked in. Grey chuckles, "Well, this is my mate, Willow." He smiles at me. He had such a proud look on his face. My heart was singing. Everyone in the room gasped in surprise. Most people seemed excited. "Congratulations!" The red-head called out. I liked her. She seemed friendly. "Thanks Beth." Grey grinned. "Mate?" Juliet almost shrieked from her spot on the couch. I swear I saw Beth roll her eyes. "Yes." Grey snapped to her. "But she is Red Woods!" Juliet whines. "As of now, she is Goliath. I expect everyone to respect and treat her as we would every other Goliath Pack member.! Grey says coldly, making sure everyone understood. Alpha Cain walked into the room behind us. "How do you like the place, Willow? Will it do?" He laughed. "It is lovely." I reply politely, "Thank you Alpha Cain." "Call me Cain, please." He smiles. I smile back, hearing Juliet groan. "Now I want to leave the decision to you. You can set yourself up in the spare room beside Grey's or you can share Grey's room. I may be older, but I know the importance and strength of the mate bond. I will follow your lead. I trust you both to make your decisions together." Cain nods his head. I am surprised at his calmness and at how easy going he is being. "Is he for real?" Juliet spits, making everyone turn to face her. Cain included. His eyes looked dark. "If you have a problem, Juliet, you are more than welcome to leave." Cain says coldly. Juliet shrinks back into her position on the couch. A wise decision if you ask me. Cain seems nice, but I would not like to see him angry - he just looks as if he is powerful and strong. Greys leads me to the couch and pulls me down to sit beside him. Beth shuffles over towards me. "Hi." She says to me. "Hi." I reply shyly. "I'm Beth, Jonah's mate." she informs me. "It's really nice to meet you." I smile. That was the last sentence I managed to get in before Beth talked my ear off. Occasionally, I noticed Grey's smirk from beside me. Clearly, he was well aware of Beth's tendency to talk. A lot. I don't mind though, I like the conversation and it allows me to block out things I would rather not think about at the moment. I was also happy to have someone in his pack that could be my friend. I feel like it's my first day at school and I am trying to suss out who my potential friends are. Beth made it easy.
