The Lost Mate

Birds chirping was a beautiful sound to hear on a beautiful weekend. I got up and walked down the stairs to see Garrett and Jenna at the dining table with pancakes, bacon, and buttered toast. Making my own plate I asked Jenna how her week was since I never get to see her during the week because of her work.

“Good besides yesterday, we had to do a emergency surgery.”

“Oh no, were they okay when you left yesterday?”

“Yeah, they was in the recovery when I left but the doctor said that they should make a full recovery.”

“That’s good, I am glad that everything went well for them.”

Sitting at the table and putting syrup on my pancakes, my phone started ringing. Looking at the screen I see Rose. I ignore it because I know she will just text me.

While taking a bit I hear Garrett’s go off. I rolled my eyes because I knew rose was calling him because I didn’t answer. Instead of ignoring it like I did he answers and asks what she wants because we are eating breakfast.

He hands me the phone and as soon as I put it up to my ear I knew something was wrong because I can hear her sniffling.

“What’s wrong Rose?”

“Can you come get me? I am at the park.”

“I will be there in 10 minutes.”

Running upstairs to get dressed in whatever I can grab because I don’t care if it matches right now because I know something is wrong for Rose to call crying. Getting to my car I slam the keys in and start it up. Flying down the road hoping I don’t get pulled over I make it there in under 10 minutes.

Jumping out of the car I cant see her anywhere. Yelling for her, I notice her legs hanging out of the tunnel slide. Walking over I sit in front of her.

“ What’s wrong,” I ask.

Sliding out so she can sit up I can see her eyes are blood shot and are very swelled. She opens and closes her mouth a couple times before she finally tells me. “ I was raped last night.”

As soon as those words come out of her mouth I had tears in my eyes that I knew I would not let shed down my face because I needed to be strong for her. I stand up and grab her hand and said come here. I knew I couldn’t fix what had happened to her but I knew she needed someone there for her that would not judge her or ask a lot of unnecessary questions.

“ I know you don’t want a lot of questions asked but I have one question if you feel like answering.”

She nods her head for me to continue even though I know she doesn’t feel like answering them but I know she called me here because she knows I wont ask stupid questions.

“ Where did it happen?”

“ I was walking home after the football game last night because Cage left me because his girlfriend called him wanting him to come over for a family dinner. So, I didn't have a ride home so I decided I would just walk home. Well when I was passing the park this guy, who I thought was cute, stopped me and we were just talking. He was acting weird but I just pushed it off as nerves. He kept looking around and then he just grabs me and puts a hand over my mouth and tells me ‘if you try to scream I will kill you.’ So, I didn’t scream or say anything.”

I knew she was still scared. I just hugged her. I knew nothing I would or could even say would help her right now. After our hug I stood up and held out my hand and said “lets go back to my house no one is home besides me and Garrett.”

I helped her get into my car and closed the door for her. i stopped at the back of my car and took a deep breath because i knew everything would be changing for her. I can only hope that the guy used protection and that she doesn't get anything and that she doesn't end up pregnant if he didn't use anything.

Starting the car up I look at her to see she is already asleep. We get to my house within 5 minutes and I am thankful i don't see Garretts car here. I wake up her telling her we are here and go up and unlock the door and wait on her.
