Chapter 1

Under a shady tree, a girl was seen reading a book. Too eager to read that she did not pay attention to those who passed by. Occasionally she puts away strands of hair covering her face and tuck it behind her ear as it is blown by the wind with his fingers and continue reading.

"Callie." There's someone calling her name near by her ear that's make her jump a little due to shocked. She turned immediately to see who was disturbing her privacy time for reading.

She had a limited time to read. That's why she doesn't like being disturbed while doing so. And almost everyone in the village knows her obsession for a book can't be denied and they won't disturb her when they saw her sitting somewhere alone with her book.

"Yes?" Despite being disturbed, she's still put her good manners and answer.

Her good manner that makes everyone in the village respect her. That's also the reason they didn't want to disturb her precious time alone. As they know, when her rest times up she'll wont have much time for herself until late at night.

Callie looked at the person who's called her. Just looking at that person face make her lips twitched and a smile forms.

"I'm very sorry for disturbing you Callie... " Because she know she'd done something bad to her friend, Felicity make an apology face and put both her hand to her chest as gesture for apologizing.

"But I need your help... " With puppy eye, Felicity looked Callie in the eye. Those eyes make Callie sighs softly.

"May I know what have you done again?" Callie ask softly. She never rise her voice to anyone, she just like to speak softly since childhood. It's just become her habit until she grown up.

Callie touch slightly Felicity nose with her fingertip. She knows this girl won't disturb her if it doesn't for an important matters. This girl know her best. Because she's her clingy childhood friend.

"Uuu.... " Felicity hug Callie. She buried her face to Callie shoulder and started to cry. Callie didn't know what happened to her friend. She just hug Felicity back and pat her shoulder to comfort her.

"You know I have not much time to comfort you now don't you." Its feel like forever, but Felicity just keep crying and wont say a word. So Callie had to remind Felicity about her time. But that seems unhelpful. Because she can hear Felicity sobs became louder than before.

"Do you want to talk about it later today? I'll take my day off this evening if you need me too." Callie tries to persuade Felicity. But that girl didn't say anything just nodding her head slightly.

"Alright then, I'll meet you at my house this evening. Right now I need to get back to work." Callie push Felicity shoulder gently. She look at her dull watery face. Felicity nodded her head weakly without looking at Callie.

"But, is it okay for you to take a day off?" While sobbing, Felicity ask Callie for certainty.

Callie never ask for a day off to her work. She is a very dedicated worker. What impressed Felicity more that Callie didn't just have one work, but she made dozen part time work other than her one regular work at morning. But Callie still managed to take care of her sick mother, her father, little sister and take care of herself. Callie doesn't wear any makeup or eat any health products to maintain her beautiful body or face. She just born that way. She's not fat or thin. She had that slim body every girls wanted the most. With her height and her neutral beauty, she can even become a model. She even been cast to a model company that come for work at their village not long ago. But Callie politely refused.

"It's okay just for today. I don't think Mrs Sharon will mind." Callie smile to her. She help Felicity wipe her tears with a clean handmade handkerchief.

Mrs Sharon is the owner of a small grocery store. Callie work as a part timer there every Wednesday and Friday. She help Mrs Sharon to organize her new arrival stocks to store or shelves. But thinking that today wont have any new arrival stock will come, so she decided to help Mrs Sharon arrange her shelves. Since Felicity have favor to ask her, Callie put that thought at hold and just take a day off for the girl.

"Okay..., I'll meet you later." Felicity now can put a smile on her face again. Even its not the best smile she had, but that's enough to Callie.

> Callie Pov <

I'm on my way back home from my part time job at the book store near home. Everyday I start working at 4:00 am and finished at 1:00am and now it's only 6:30pm. Since Mrs Sharon won't received her store stocks today due to public holiday, I can have a few hour's relaxing time. So I thought I will help her organizing her store shelves so we can display more stuff and make some space in the warehouse. But I have to reschedule that again later.

After leaving Felicity this afternoon, I take my time going to Mrs Sharon first before going back to the Mansion that I work in. I ask Mrs Sharon if I can take a day off today. And...

"Are you okay? Are you sick?. " She's looked at me and ask me surprisingly. There's concerned looked written on her old face.

"Oh no ma'am, I'm fine thank you." I put a sweet smile on my face to calm the old lady.

"Are you sure? We can go to the clinic if you feel sick. The bill will be on me. " Mrs Sharon told me as she can't believe me. She hold my shoulder and bring me to the chair to sit. My body unconsciously follow her guidance.

"No no no. It's true I'm okay. I'm not sick. I just have a few things to do today that's why I ask for a day off. " I try to convince her that I am okay and not sick. I hold her hand and bring her to sit on the chair next to me. And she did.

"It's okay than. You can take a day off. We don't have much work to do today. You'll just get bored accompanying this old lady if you don't have anything to do. " Mrs Sharon pat my hand softly.

"That's not true at all. I never felt bored when I'm with you ma'am. " I sincerely said that to her. Mrs Sharon was a very kind woman and employer. I would never felt bored when I'm working with her.

Mrs Sharon live alone. Her husband died due to cancer few years ago. And they never had a child together. So she'd alone managing this market after her husband died. When I saw she tried to lift heavy boxes that one day, I offer her a help. She refused my help after looking at me. I'm only 16 that time but known in my village as a working machine. Just like today, I do part time job as many as possible to earn money for my family. I started doing part time jobs when I'm 14 years old. I do a lot of jobs that time than now.

Due to my regular work at the mansion, I have to stop working from some of my part time jobs. Mrs Sharon knows that. So she refused because she thought that she'll just make me tired more. But I manage to convince her after I offer myself to work at her market than giving her my free service. I also told her that I'll work only for two to three hours a day, and worked at her market only twice a week. I can't put pressure to her to accept me working with her. So I made that condition and of course I choose the day that I can help with the lifting. It's the time when her stocks arrived.

"I know dear. " Mrs Sharon smile to me while keep patting the back of my hand.

"You can have the day off. Even it's just actually for few hour's, take a rest. " She said again to me.

"Thank you ma'am." I hugged her as a thank you gesture. She pat my back softly.

"I'll have to go now. I'll meet you the day after tomorrow. " I stand up and ready to go. It's almost time to go back to work.

"Meet you then. Be careful on your way. " Mrs Sharon remind me. I nod and wave my hand to her. I start my pace and leave Mrs Sharon market.
