Annie
Annie knew the healer and the men were hurrying, but she felt as if time was running out. She kept checking Dru for a temperature; thankful they had made it thus far without one. How long could he last, though? He hadn’t moved at all since the attack. His chest was barely rising with each breath.
“Please, Dru,” she whispered.
She was so scared. The day turned to night and she figured Ethan was looking for her. Annie reluctantly dragged herself from Dru and went to the hallway to yell for Terrell to come sit with Dru, but when she opened the door, what she saw filled her heart with love and broke the gate she had firmly shut on her tears wide open.
