POV: Nova
As my mate, Roman, cradles me in his arms, the alphas approach me, their heads bowed in submission. "Queen Alpha, this is your land now. You and your mate will be expected to move here immediately and restart the Shadow pack," the alpha from the Red Sun pack says. I look around at the Shadow pack territory. Another alpha steps forward. "We brought our strongest warriors in training for you to chose your betas from. One beta from each pack?" He says. Roman puts me down and I walk to the front of the group of wolves. "Let's start choosing them. Bring me the candidates from the Blue Lake pack," I tell Grayson, the alpha of that pack. Five young wolves step forward and look at them all in turn. The last wolf in line hides her face. "Show me your face," I demand. The she wolf slowly lifts her face and I growl in disgust.
"Willow? You're a werewolf? Step down for you are dismissed," I tell her. Grayson steps forward and roughly pulls Willow out of line. "What did you do to make the Queen Alpha mad at you, you Good for nothing she wolf?" He growls at her. Willow hangs her head and whimpers. I shake my head. "Alpha Grayson, how dare you treat one of your own like that. No wonder she acts like she does. Even though she will not be my beta, she will join the Shadow pack where she will be welcomed with open arms. If I ever catch you treating a wolf like this again, I will personally kill you," I say. Grayson releases Willow and she runs to the pack house.
I look over the other candidates and choose my betas before the night ends. I chose Maya from the Blue Lake pack, Shahir from the Grey Rock pack, Aymara from the Scarlet Moon pack, and Gianna from the Red Sun pack. Roman chuckles. "My love, you do realize you chose all women to be your betas right? I mean, don't get me wrong, but shouldn't there be at least one guy? Just to make it seem like you're not being sexist," he says, a twinkle in his eyes. I give a small laugh. "No, I did not choose my betas just to be fair. I chose them for their strength. Each of these women are so much stronger than the rest of the candidates," I tell him. As I turn to head towards the pack house, Bean launches himself at me. "No-No, play with me. Mama and I are leaving tomorrow and you still haven't played with me," he pouts. Roman and I laugh.
I walk towards the house with Bean in my arms. Roman leans forward and kisses my neck which sends shivers down my spine. "I can't wait to have children of our own. You would be a good mother," he whispers. I bite my lip and turn my blushing face away from him. Bean giggles and runs to the living room as soon as I put him down in the pack house. "Come find me, No-No," he calls. I look at Roman before taking off to find my little cousin. Use your nose, a voice says in my head. I stop and look around. "Who are you?" I ask. The voice chuckles. I am Quinn, your other half. Your wolf, she says. I smile to myself, lift my head and sniff the air. I smell Bean so I follow the scent to the staircase. Following his scent, I find myself outside a set of dark mahogany doors.
I push open the doors and stop right in the doorway. The room seems familiar. I look around and see an oak desk with a computer on it, a black leather chair, and a red couch. I walk to the desk and sit down in the chair. Bean giggles from underneath the desk. I lean over and look at him. "You found me!" He exclaims happily. He crawls out and climbs into my lap. "No-No, this used to be the King Alpha's office before he was killed. Will you use it as your office now?" He asks me. I look around and pull open one of the desk drawers. On the top of a pile of papers is a photo. Lifting the photo out of the drawer, I flip on the desk lamp and look at the picture.
In the picture, a man with blonde hair and sharp features stands next to a woman with flaming red hair. The woman is holding a small baby and smiling. "That was your mother and father and you right after you were born. I took that photo," my uncle says, clearing his throat in the doorway. "That picture was taken the day your parents bound your powers and make my mate and I swear to never tell anyone who you really were," he says quietly. I look down at the picture and smile. "I don't really resemble either of them do I? Neither of them have my silver hair or my violet eyes. I guess that was a good thing," I say sadly. Bean looks at the picture then me. "You have your mothers nose and your fathers sharp features," my uncle tells me, taking Bean from my lap.
"I came to let you know that something came up. Your aunt and I have to leave tonight. A moving company will be bringing all yours and your mate's things in the morning," he tells me. I stand up and give him a hug. "Don't be a stranger, Uncle Ben. Come around more often," I tell him. He laughs and kisses my forehead. "Is that an order from the Queen Alpha?" He asks with a small laugh. I smile at him and nod. "Yes. I suppose it is," I tell him. We walk out of the room together and I practically run into Willow. She whimpers and backs away quickly. "Sorry Queen Alpha. Didn't mean to run into you," she says. I give her a small smile. "Willow, you don't have to be scared of me. I won't hurt you. What happened before is in the past. You are now part of my pack. Call me Nova. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go say good night tot the other packs and my aunt," I say, slipping past her. She bows and runs off.
Outside, the packs were starting to clean up and getting ready to leave. "Fellow wolves, I want to thank you for coming out and to wish you a good night. Tomorrow, I will begin to find members for my pack. Tonight, if you would like, you can stay here since it is late," I tell everyone. The packs all bow to me and go back to me. I run over to my aunt and wrap my arms around her. "Bye Aunt Em. Come visit more often or heck, move into my territory and become a member of the Shade pack," I say, looking at her pleadingly. My aunt laughs and hugs me back. "You know I can't do that. My alpha only gave me until you came to power then I have to go back to my pack. I have a job that I have been away from for too long," she says. I give a small frown. "Okay Auntie. Come visit soon," I tell her.
I watch the packs get comfortable in the different houses surrounding the pack house. My aunt and uncle drives away and I sigh. Roman wraps his arms around me and I look back at him and smile. "Lets head inside. I found the perfect room for us. And I want to spend some time with you," he says. He leads me back towards the house and leads me to a room. I looked around and smiled. The room was painted in a dark red color with mahogany furniture. He leads me into the room and he opens the closet. Inside, there is clothes for both him and I. "Why don't we take a shower?" He grabs two fluffy robes and opens another door that leads to a large bathroom.
