POV: Nova
I wake up and try to sit up but I'm pulled back down. I look over my shoulder to see Roman sleeping with his arm wrapped around my waist. Laying back down, I turn over so that I am facing him. Looking at Roman, I realize how Greek god-like he is. His perfectly chiseled face glows in the morning light. His curly black hair falls over his eyes and his long eyelashes rest gently on his face. I reach over and brush the hair away from his face and kiss his cheek gently. He stirs and opens his eyes and looks at me. "Well, good morning, my love," he growls as he stretches. He pulls me closer and buries his nose in my neck. I giggle as he kisses a trail from my neck to my lips.
A knock on our door makes us spring apart. I slide out of bed and open the door to see one of my betas, Shahir. "Queen Alpha," she says, giving a small bow. "The packs are getting to leave. I thought it would be wise to let you know so that you can say good bye." I look down at myself and then back at Shahir. "Let them know, I will be down in ten minutes. Let me just get dressed for the day. Thank you," I tell her. She runs down the hall and I close the door and sigh. "Looks like its time to start the day," Roman says, handing me a stack of clothes. I take the clothes and dress quickly, throwing my hair in a messy bun.
Outside the pack house, the packs mill around waiting for me to come say good bye. The alphas call for attention as soon as I step outside. I stand on the steps and look out at the packs. "Thank you for coming out last night. I wish you all safe traveling mercies as you make your way home. Do not hesitate to come visit whenever you want," I say. Everyone bows and begins to shift for the travel back to their territories. I watch as each pack runs in different directions. I see Aymara watching the packs leave with a frown on her face. Going over to her, I put my arm around her. "What's wrong? Are you not happy here?" I ask her. she jumps a little and gives me a small smile. "Nothing is wrong. I was just hoping to find my mate last night among the packs," she tells me.
I give her shoulder a squeeze and step back. "Well, maybe as the pack begins to grow, you will find your mate," I tell her. Roman walks over to us and ruffles Aymara's hair, earning a growl from his sister. "Don't worry little sister. Wanna go look for potential members with us today?" He asks. Aymara's eyes glint in anticipation. "Can I?" She asks, looking to me. I shrug. "I was planning on having my betas with me anyways," I say. The other betas look to me in excitement. "You're telling us that you want us to help look for members for your pack?" Gianna asks. I look at her quizzically. "Why wouldn't I want your help. You are my betas," I say. Maya smiles. "Most alphas do this on their own. But you don't have to do it alone. We would be honored to help," she says, taking my hand in excitement. The other betas growl and Maya drops my hand in shock. "I am so sorry for touching you, Queen Alpha. I din't mean to," she whimpers.
I place my hand on her shoulder and took at the betas. "You do not have to be scared of me. I am hoping that we can be very close friends," I say. The betas shift uncomfortably before someone clears their throat behind us. I turn to see Willow standing there, looking sheepish. "I know it's not much,, but I made breakfast," she tells us. I smile and motion for everyone to move inside for breakfast. Roman grabs my hand and twines his fingers in mine. "You are going to be a brilliant alpha," he whispers. I smile. We walk hand and hand into the kitchen where there is bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, and waffles sitting on the table. "Wow, Willow. You outdid yourself," I tell her, drawing a smile from her. As we sit down to eat, I look at how sad Willow looks.
"Willow, since you are part of my pack now, would you like to come on a run with the rest of us? We are going to look for potential pack members," I tell her. She looks at me in shock. "But I'm no one of importance," she whispers. I shrug. "And? I don't see a reason for you not to come. As I see it, you may be able to help us find people that can bring something to the pack since you know many people of the town," I say. Willow looks down at her plate. "Do you think we can change Sebastian. He's human but also my mate. His home life is awful and I don't want to leave him there any longer," she tells me. I look to the others and they all shrug. "Sure. I will never try to keep mates apart. He can be the first new pack member. Why don't you call him and have him meet us somewhere," I suggest. Willow nods and pulls out her phone.
I look at my betas. "Do any of you have any suggestions or requests?" I ask. Maya lifts her hand up. "My little brother was born human and my parents hate him for it. They tossed him out and he has been going from foster home to foster home in the next county over," she says sadly. I take her hand and smile. "We will bring him into the pack. How old is he?" I ask. Maya sighs. "He's only eight. I'll take care of him. I swear," she says. I nod. Gianna and Aymara both shake their heads. "Okay, well that settles it then. Today we will bring Sebastian and Maya's brother into the pack. Everyone go get ready and meet me at the border in an hour," I say, standing up. We all head out of the dining room to get ready.
