After putting the letters back in their original place, I proceeded to go through the other drawers until I found a hefty old notebook. It was thick and heavy from all the papers jammed inside. Curious, I opened it and found a bunch of old photos and small portrait paintings.
It looked like a catalogue of people from way back when, with their pictures beside their names, and dates of birth and death. On the first few pages were photographs of a couple.
